The George Weikert farm is at the corner where United States Avenue, Sedgwick Avenue and Hancock Avenue come together. It is one of several Weickert farms in the area at the time of the battle, with three belonging to George’s sons and another to a distant cousin. There is also a George W. Weickert farm, also known as the Timbers farm, south of Brooke Avenue.
George Weikert was born around 1801 and moved to the Gettysburg area from Maryland in 1838. He bought the 78 acre farm north of Little Round Top in 1852.
George and his family left the farm during the fighting. Afterwards they returned to scenes of desolation familiar to many Gettysburg residents. The house was a field hospital, with wounded filling the parlor and amputated arms and legs piled outside the windows. According to family history, six men died just in the parlor, and the yard was filled with graves. When the buried were exhumed to be placed in the National Cemetery, the missing parlor rug was found, cut into strips as the top and bottom layers of the burial trench.
After the battle the farm was purchased by survivors of the New Jersey Brigade to preserve the land that the brigade held during the battle. The New Jersey Brigade’s monument is about 200 yards east of Weickert farmhouse. The farm today is owned by the National Park Service.

George Gulyanics played for the Chicago Bears during the late 1940s and early 1950s. He was my dad's first cousin. His mother and my grandfather were brother and sister. I am a Green Bay fan!

Meet George – a wonderful homeless man I met this past Sunday afternoon in DC. I came across him by asking him where I could get some cigarettes around where he was. He pointed me towards a CVS up the street – I asked him if he wanted anything while I was up there, he reluctantly said he would like some soup, but probably thought I would just get on my way after I got what I needed from the store. I came back with 4 cans of soup and gave him half my pack of cigs for his help, and in return, I received the most generous and heartfelt smile I had seen in some time. George is from South Carolina and has has three beautiful girls (he showed me pictures of them). I noticed him massaging his lower left rib cage and asked him about it. He told me that another homeless man attacked him because he did not want him pan-handling in his area. I spent about a good 45 minutes talking with him before I left. He was kind enough let me take some shots of him.

More all-over, so the relationships are not so syncopated, but still unexpected. Though this at first seems more familiar, reminiscent of painting we've seen before, it still has the startling presence of a unique vision. Quite a beautiful painting.
George Stephenson (9 June 1781 – 12 August 1848) was an English civil engineer and mechanical engineer who built the first public inter-city railway line in the world to use steam locomotives, the Liverpool and Manchester Railway which opened in 1830. Renowned as the "Father of Railways".
His rail gauge of 4 feet 8 1⁄2 inches (1,435 mm), sometimes called "Stephenson gauge", is the standard gauge by name and by convention for most of the world's railways.

(PRIVATE COLLECTION OF GEORGE McSPADDEN) GEORGE'S PATH was inspired by a photograph of a trail through the woods in early morn, before the fog had fully lifted. The angle of the sun creates deep shadows along the path and hillside. This peaceful scene was chosen to be my subject by George McSpadden; thus the name, GEORGE'S PATH. The canvas measures 16" X 20".
