Trawling the archives and found this. Tweaked in picnik.

George is not known for his color, but here he is surrounded by it.

"O grande segredo não está em ter boas maneiras, nem más maneiras, nem maneiras de espécie alguma, senão em tratar todos por igual. Em resumo, é preciso que nos comportemos como se estivéssemos no céu, onde não há vagões de terceira classe, nem alma superior a outra."

George Lake campground, in Killarney Provincial Park, is situated on two bays of the lake. The third and largest part, of the lake, is found when one paddles through this passage between the rocky cliffs. It is the starting point for interior canoe trips and leads to a whole chain of lakes and portages.

Lake George, nicknamed the Queen of American Lakes, is a long, narrow oligotrophic lake located at the southeast base of the Adirondack Mountains, in the northeastern portion of the U.S. state of New York. It lies within the upper region of the Great Appalachian Valley and drains northward into Lake Champlain and the St. Lawrence River drainage basin. The lake is situated along the historical natural (Amerindian) path between the valley of the Hudson River and that of the St. Lawrence, so lies on the direct land route between Albany, New York and Montreal, Canada. The lake extends about 32.2 mi (51.8 km) on a north-south axis, is quite deep, and varies from 1 to 3 miles (1.7 to 5 km) in width, presenting a significant barrier to east-west travel. Although the year-round population of the Lake George region is relatively small, the summertime population can swell to over 50,000 residents, many in the Village of Lake George region at the southern end of the lake.

Lake George drains into Lake Champlain to its north through a short stream, the La Chute River, with many falls and rapids, dropping about 230 feet (70 m) in its 3½-mile (6 km) course—virtually all of which is within the lands of Ticonderoga, New York and near the site of the famous Fort Ticonderoga. Ultimately the waters flowing via the 106-mile-long (171 km) Richelieu River empty into the St. Lawrence River downstream and northeast of Montreal and then into the North Atlantic Ocean above Nova Scotia.

'George B' pulling into Llanuwchllyn, Bala Lake Railway, 25.8.22.

RD17009. Over the weekend 22nd - 24th June, 2018 the 2ft gauge Ffestiniog Railway in North Wales held a gala to celebrate the 125th birthday of the 1893 built Hunslets LINDA and BLANCHE.

Lots of other 2ft gauge engines built in Leeds by the Hunslet Engine Company came to the party and this is Quarry Hunslet 0-4-0ST GEORGE B, built in 1898, in Minffordd Yard.

GEORGE B worked at the Dinorwig Slate Quarry at Llanberis until purchased for preservation in 1965. It can now be found working on the Bala Lake Railway, so didn't have far to come.

Originally a lot taller this statue of George 111 was too close to a nearby WW2 RAF bomber base's approach pattern. The RAF decided to blow it up to eliminate the danger posed to aircraft, the top section was recovered and placed in the grounds of Lincoln castle where this image was taken.

I often pass George on my drive to East New York, panhandling at a busy corner, weaving in and out of cars. Today I was walking, and when he saw me with my camera, he gave a big smile, stretched out his arms, and said "Take a picture of me."

Sixty five and originally from Puerto Rico, George lives in a homeless shelter not far from the intersection. He has been homeless for most of the last twenty years, having no family left in the states and a few run ins with the law. He messed with drugs long ago, but now he only drinks here and there.

When I asked him how he wanted to be described he said, "as everyone calls me, Anciano, or old man."

Santayana is popularly known for aphorisms, such as "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it", "Only the dead have seen the end of war",[4] and the definition of beauty as "pleasure objectified". Although an atheist, he always treasured the Spanish Catholic values, practices, and worldview in which he was raised.[citation needed] Santayana was a broad-ranging cultural critic spanning many disciplines.

Undoubted star and absolute crowd favouite was Williams Mercedes driver George Russell, he was pushing his lowly williams to places that could hardly be believed mixing it with the upper mid field runners. Support in the grandstand was exceptionally vocal for the 21 year old from Norfolk every time he came past.

Yet another pop/rock icon suddenly and unexpectedly dies in 2016. Not really a fan of George Michael -though I still have a couple of Wham! singles from way back- but it's always sad to see someone pass away before their time.

As with Prince, I know many of his numerous fans will miss him but, from a personal point of view, the big losses musicwise for me this year were Bowie, Cohen and Alan Vega. Of course, a big deal was made about four of those deaths but, unfortunately, the recent death of Rick Parfitt (Status Quo) as well as those of Keith Emerson and Greg Lake (Emerson, Lake & Palmer) were hardly noticed nor acknowledged by many.
