In 1751 the future American president is said to have slept in George Washington House in Bridgetown, Barbados, Eastern Caribbean, with his brother Lawrence.
I found George downtown last week as I near the finish line for this 366 portrait project. He was hanging out talking to a friend when I spotted his uniqueness. I asked to make his portrait and he obliged.

Lake George, nicknamed the Queen of American Lakes, is a long, narrow oligotrophic lake located at the southeast base of the Adirondack Mountains, in the northeastern portion of the U.S. state of New York. It lies within the upper region of the Great Appalachian Valley and drains northward into Lake Champlain and the St. Lawrence River drainage basin. The lake is situated along the historical natural (Amerindian) path between the valley of the Hudson River and that of the St. Lawrence, so lies on the direct land route between Albany, New York and Montreal, Canada. The lake extends about 32.2 mi (51.8 km) on a north-south axis, is quite deep, and varies from 1 to 3 miles (1.7 to 5 km) in width, presenting a significant barrier to east-west travel. Although the year-round population of the Lake George region is relatively small, the summertime population can swell to over 50,000 residents, many in the Village of Lake George region at the southern end of the lake.
Lake George drains into Lake Champlain to its north through a short stream, the La Chute River, with many falls and rapids, dropping about 230 feet (70 m) in its 3½-mile (6 km) course—virtually all of which is within the lands of Ticonderoga, New York and near the site of the famous Fort Ticonderoga. Ultimately the waters flowing via the 106-mile-long (171 km) Richelieu River empty into the St. Lawrence River downstream and northeast of Montreal and then into the North Atlantic Ocean above Nova Scotia.
George Eastman was born on July 12, 1854. Without this American entrepreneur, who introduced roll film and accessible affordable camera models, what in the world would we be doing these days?
Happy Birthday, George !
This picture is #28 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group pageGeorge was waiting on Customers for the Carriage Ride. He explained to me that yesterday he could not go out because his horse was spooked by the parade. Beale Street and the Peabody were full of fans attending the Liberty Bowl.
By the way, this is my 11th submission to the Human Family Group. www.flickr.com/groups/thehumanfamily/
Originally a lot taller this statue of George 111 was too close to a nearby WW2 RAF bomber base's approach pattern. The RAF decided to blow it up to eliminate the danger posed to aircraft, the top section was recovered and placed in the grounds of Lincoln castle where this image was taken.
I often pass George on my drive to East New York, panhandling at a busy corner, weaving in and out of cars. Today I was walking, and when he saw me with my camera, he gave a big smile, stretched out his arms, and said "Take a picture of me."
Sixty five and originally from Puerto Rico, George lives in a homeless shelter not far from the intersection. He has been homeless for most of the last twenty years, having no family left in the states and a few run ins with the law. He messed with drugs long ago, but now he only drinks here and there.
When I asked him how he wanted to be described he said, "as everyone calls me, Anciano, or old man."

Santayana is popularly known for aphorisms, such as "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it", "Only the dead have seen the end of war",[4] and the definition of beauty as "pleasure objectified". Although an atheist, he always treasured the Spanish Catholic values, practices, and worldview in which he was raised.[citation needed] Santayana was a broad-ranging cultural critic spanning many disciplines.
"Those who don't learn from history we are doomed to repeat it."
- George Santayana

I didn't get to take too many photos this past December which was a real bummer. But one day, my wife accompanies me to Fort Lee where i wanted to take a specific shot in mind. It was approaching sunset, and i didn't have much time.
Yet another pop/rock icon suddenly and unexpectedly dies in 2016. Not really a fan of George Michael -though I still have a couple of Wham! singles from way back- but it's always sad to see someone pass away before their time.
As with Prince, I know many of his numerous fans will miss him but, from a personal point of view, the big losses musicwise for me this year were Bowie, Cohen and Alan Vega. Of course, a big deal was made about four of those deaths but, unfortunately, the recent death of Rick Parfitt (Status Quo) as well as those of Keith Emerson and Greg Lake (Emerson, Lake & Palmer) were hardly noticed nor acknowledged by many.
