This was taken out of my hotel window in the city of George Town, Malaysia. The thick haze stayed over the city for most of my stay there. From here you can usually see the harbor. The dome in the foreground is part of a major shopping mall that was being renovated at the time

In 2009 George was posthumously awarded a PDSA Gold Medal (animal equivalent of the George Cross) presented by Governor General Anand Satyanand.
After hearing of the story an American Vietnam War veteran Jerrell Hudman mailed to George's owner Allen Gay, one of three Purple Heart Medals he was awarded during his service to honour George's memory.

Anyway, I heart him times a billion and a half!! Who doesn't love George? He was the best one...

My attempt to show why Edinburgh often feels like an M.C. Escher drawing. The George IV Bridge bridges a street on street-level over another street on another street-level.
Overlooking the Niagara River, Fort George was built between 1796 and 1802. This fortification served as the headquarters for the Centre Division of the British Army during the War of 1812, and played a pivotal role in the defence of Upper Canada. Fort George saw action during the Battle of Queenston Heights, was destroyed and captured by the Americans during the Battle of Fort George, and was reclaimed by the British seven months later.
The 41st (Welch) Regiment of Foot was an infantry regiment of the British Army, formed in 1719 and amalgamated into The Welch Regiment in 1881.
The 41st regiment served with distinction in Canada during the War of 1812 where it gained more battle honours than any other British unit during that period.
Probably the oldest photos in the album, the styles of dress and hair seem to indicate the 1860s. Labeling confirms this is George Chappell - label states 'Grandfather Chappell, dentist'

Son of James and Mary Wheatcroft; husband of Susan Jessie Wheatcroft, of 18, The Mall, Swindon, Wilts. A Schoolmaster, Frederick Wheatcroft was an Amateur International and Professional Footballer. Native of Alfreton, Derbyshire.
