Geometry was the focus of this photograph, the vertical lines and text stand out to me.

For a project today, I need to cut a 4x4 post at an 18 degree angle, and could not find a protracter.

So I dusted off my geometry, and calculated the other lenght of a triangle to get me the angle (1 4x4 is 3 1/2 inches wide).

With the way I cut, precision was not critical; X as on the high side of 1 1/8 inches.

TOA- is Tangent = Oppposite over Adjancet, the mnemoic I recalled from high school the great Chief SOH CAH TOA

I'm working on this little art-book about geometry. It's mostly a learning exercise for myself, and a training project to learn how geometers think and work. I confess, I don't always understand it — but the more pages I complete, the more I understand. It helps that I create each page three times: once as a pencil outline of the geometry problem, once as a text-based explanation of the problem, and once as the inked-and-colored explanation.

This notebook is in a Moleskine Japanese Album, the larger of the two sizes available (and the rarer) with 49 pages.

Yes, I did have Ikea photo holders as tablecard holders at my wedding - both cheapo and saddo! However, I knew they'd come in handy somehow...

I've just used this as an excuse to play around with Gimp for nearly two hours. It's by no means perfect, but I'm rather pleased with it for a first attempt, even if I did only mess about with exposure and eraser settings.
