This is a quick demonstration of my Function Generator project at hte end of my First year of Electronic Engineering at Uni. It doesn't work at the moment, but that's purely because I'm yet to get the SPI communication working. :(
It uses an AD9834 to create sine, square and triangle waveforms through DDS. It has a theoretical bandwidth of 25MHz, but anything above 1MHz needs filters to remove the noise.
Inside the case is an Arduino Which handles the controls and the SPI communications.
All models are fitted standard with the Kohler sound enclosure, which has the following features:
Acoustic sound treatment for silent operation
Integrated fuel tank in generator skid
Lifting ring & Integral brackets for forklifts
Weatherproof enclosure for outdoor installation
Plug-and-Play hardwire points eliminating messy cabling
Accessible doors for ease of maintenance
Quick controller view through window glass panel
Drainage points for diesel, oil and coolant
The Kohler KM range of generators are perfectly suited for the rural industry due to their proven reliability and relative small compact size.
Genquip Power Products were chosen to distribute the Kohler KM range of diesel generators due to their extensive experience in this area. The KOHLER one-year limited parts & labour warranty cover all KOHLER generators.

Unless I want to tear up a bunch more wall inside and drill through the brick as well, I'm going to have to mount the input socket box about a foot or so in front of the electric meter. The right half (as viewed) of this wood covers an HVAC duct you'll see in the following pictures.
The easiest part of this whole job is complete. I decided on a location for the transfer switch, and mounted it. It'll be at the limit of the 18" flex that the switch came with, and it'll make for an ugly hole below the load center - but as the load center is nailed to two structural studs, I'd have to bust up a bunch more wall to put it anywhere else.

This small AC generator came with the Jensen Model 20 steam engine shown in the previous photos. One day I hope to drive this generator with the engine and light the small bulb on the lamp post.
With the threat of a German land invasion, gun batteries were placed strategically along the south coast. Brownstone Battery was built at Froward Point above Kingswear in 1940 to protect the Dart Estuary and nearby beaches Slapton and Blackpool Sands. The Battery was manned by up to 300 soldiers.
The Battery has two gun positions. Each housed a six-inch gun, taken from a First World War battleship. The guns had a range of over 14 miles, and 13 men were needed to operate each gun. The men worked on a shift system.
The shells containing high explosives were propelled from the guns by 'charges.' These were either cordite, a silk bag filled with smaller bags of explosive, or a cartridge, a brass cylinder filled with explosive.
At the lower position, a miniature railway was built and the track carried shells down the steep slop from the ammunition store to the gun position. The shells were loaded onto a truck or bogey then freewheeled down with gears controlling the speed. An engine and pulley hoisted the truck back up the slope.
There are two searchlight positions at the battery. The reinforced concrete buildings housed powerful searchlights which scanned the sea for enemy ships. Five men operated each searchlight, working on shifts. Below the searchlights, the whole cliff area was covered in barbed wire.
The Battery was decommissioned in the late 1950s and is now managed by the National Trust.

Video & Description:
I understand that some folks were without power 10 days a couple years ago, and we were out 3 1/2 days last year. No more. I had the electrician install a crossover and I have 5 kilowatts here to run the fridge, the TV (if the cable isn't out) assorted lights and my computer. The gas station at the Casino is on generator, so if the 2, 16 gallon tanks in the truck aren't enough, I can get more. We are going to be comfortable this winter...
Sitting between Jewell and Okolona, Ohio sat this short train on the Napoleon, Defiance & Western sitting shut off with a portable generator running power inside through the cab window. For what purpose? Beats me.
