Gentse Feesten 2008
Generation Dallas is another Belgian group that performed on the Gentse Feesten. I accidentally fell on their concert, but I'm certainly not complaining for that!
The special light gave me the opportunity to make some unusual concert photos. The sun was setting at the moment and shined right at the scene...

Generation X by Douglas Coupland, 1998 edition (really not impressed with that pink; the first edition cover looks so much better...)
A subtly beautiful book in its apparent surface 'ugliness'. I discovered this beast in college, about 2008, hence the 'survival guide for the 90s aspect' was obsolete by then but it provides a reassuringly humourous, fond and harsh view of the era I grew up in.
The objects coming out of the book represent the concepts inside: nuke fear, Texlahoma (a fictitious asteroid orbiting Earth, where the year is perpetually 1974) and the 'cocaine white bird' from the scene in the carbon-covered fields.
Traditions teach.
Here, the youngest are being taught by those two generations older.
Games are the mechanism, the dining table is the location, and the prime motivator to learn is the pride of winning. Just a thinking game called Cranium, but the interactions make for a fertile training ground for minds eager to learn and show how much they know.
This scene is usually repeated at each family gathering. After the feast is over, the games come out and the competition is fun but fierce. I was roaming about, with my camera in hand, and saw this image unfolding before me. How could I not grab an image for the family album?
Can't you just see the fun?
I've wanted to get a closeup of Owen's eyes for a while, just never quite got it with the amount he moves around. But I finally got a decent one. Focus is a tad off, but it was the best of the bunch. I really wanted to compare our eyes, and see how much his change in the future.
Comparison probably isn't great here with two different light sources, but I love looking at everything that makes up the color of an eye. There's so much going on, yet they look so simple...
4. österreichische Citizen Science Konferenz
Die Österreichische Citizen Science Konferenz 2018 fand vom 01.-03. Februar an der Universität Salzburg statt. Organisiert wurde sie von der Universität Salzburg in Kooperation mit „Österreich forscht“, „Schweiz forscht“, „Bürger schaffen Wissen“, dem „Zentrum für Citizen Science“ und dem FWF.
Unter dem Motto „Generation Citizen Science“ lag der Fokus darauf , wie man Menschen für die Methode und für einzelne Projekte begeistern kann.

Impromptu Concert - Grand Rapids, Michigan
SHOW DATE: Friday, Nov. 12th • 8-11PM @WealthyTheatre
Protest outside the High Court organised by the Fawcett Society, which was arguing for a judicial review because the government had not taken account of the grossly disproportionate effect of the financial cuts on women.
The multigenerational demonstration was supported by Women against the Cuts, the London Feminist Network, the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, and students from the occupation at LSE, amongst others.
