a 1940's aircraft switch with radium paint, showing about 0.15 mr/hr on my vintage Geiger counter, much of it gamma rays. In the 1920's a radioactive paperweight, the Bioray, was sold legally in the U.S.; from the ad material: "with Bioray on one's desk or at one's bedside one can obtain a steady flow of gamma rays continually, without any fuss or bother..." Yikes.

yeah, that's a see-through geiger mueller tube - awesome! =)

Refurbished geiger counter rescued from the trash heap in a lab. Probe was busted but I found a good deal on some end window tubes that perfectly fit the probe.

This item is for sale as I have other counters that do the same.

It looks rather better after removing the accumulated loft dust and dirt; it still has various marks and scuffs, but is now probably around 60 years old!

Here is the geiger meter/counter that measures the amount of radiation emitting from the uranium sample. The uranium sample that is contained within the plaque emits low levels of radiation, but is radioactive nonetheless.
