Stitched as part of a new thermal insulator (i.e. hot pad!) for the kitchen, to celebrate Carl Sagan Day on 9 November. Central motif is the Rutherford-Bohr model of a lithium atom, with the electrons represented by half-apples and the nucleus by a whole apple. The quote is one of (the very quotable) Sagan's more famous, from his Cosmos series: "if you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe." Apropos of the kitchen, no?
More straight-on shot to illustrate design here. Pattern here.
Year two of this journey to become who I am has it's challenges, mainly in the genetics department and having to shake off some loose ends in regards to family and such.
So I decided (when it wasn't stinking hot and a heatwave) to do a mini shoot showing off some progress so far.
It's not perfect by any means, but I'm working on it.

Finally got around to setting up the DVD shelf I bought. I don't have enough to fill this one, and I have another one besides, so I spread out the movies and put some of my geek trappings up there.

I'm such a geek, I needed to know my calorie intake... For mowing my lawn and field, for walking the children to school, and my double spin class.
Geek, chic and lover of technology.
I've always had a fondness for being a girl (and saying screw you to people who think I couldn't do it) and my childhood love of technology and gadgets.
So it sounds about right to bring those two loves together as part of my transgender journey.
I ran into my old friend Jeremy after six years, in downtown Portland today! The minute I saw him I knew what I was going to do. He doesn't know me as a photographer, so he was taken aback when I asked him if I could take his photo - however, he was a willing subject. I asked him to give me his best "Nerdy Face" and this is what he perceives that to be.
