Gem Lake is normally is a popular hiking destination in Rocky Mountain National Park, but given the current pandemic situation, it was relatively quiet when I was there.

⦁ Some days are busy. After work, taking my daughter to school, and making sure everything is running smoothly at home, I realized I needed a moment for myself. With my youngest safe at home with her nanny, I took a quiet walk to the Alki beach.
The moment I arrived, the fresh wind wrapped around me and the waves rolled in endlessly, like the ocean was breathing peace back into my soul. Standing there, I felt my thoughts slowly settle.
⦁ Life takes us down many paths, but my favorite ones always lead to the beach. It’s where I talk to the ocean, clear my mind, and let go of anything that doesn’t deserve space in my heart.
No matter how hard the day may be, I choose to look for something positive. Because the moment we give too much attention to negativity, everything can start to fall apart.
The ocean reminds me to reset, breathe, and begin again. 🌊

This hidden gem wouldn't be seen by the everyday walker and the only reason that I found it was due to the local farmer. If you look at the top of the bridge you will see it is covered in grass and at the same level as the bridle path so you don't actually know that you are walking over this charming little bridge ..... it would be lovely to think that I am the first to photograph it in all it's long history - so it remains my secret place for the time being.

⦁ The summer heat was intense, and the warm weather had little Lunielle feeling uncomfortable. She cried as the temperature continued to rise, and seeing her that way tugged at his heart. Wanting to bring a smile back to her face, he drove to the store and purchased a Froggy Splash Pool, knowing it would be the perfect way to help her cool off and enjoy the day.
⦁ As soon as he arrived home, he wasted no time unloading the pool from the car. With excitement, he inflated it, found the perfect spot in the yard, and filled it with cool, refreshing water. By the time everything was ready, his wife had already dressed Lunielle in her adorable bathing suit, eager for her to enjoy her first splash.
⦁ He gently picked his little girl up in his arms and carefully placed her into the pool. In an instant, her tears disappeared, replaced by laughter, curiosity, and pure joy. Watching her splash the water with her tiny hands and smile from ear to ear filled his heart with happiness. He climbed in beside her, playing, laughing, and keeping her company every step of the way.
⦁ For him, those moments were about much more than escaping the summer heat. They were reminders that the greatest blessings in life are often found in the simplest acts of love. Seeing his daughter happy was worth every second, and creating memories like these reminded him that being a father is one of life’s greatest gifts.
