Nothing too exciting or eventful to report on today; it was an average day around the office that passed by without much notice.

Although the chaos of last week has passed, I still managed to find myself quite tired by the time the day came to an end.

Happily though; the bees were buzzing and made for simple photography today; I even had the wrong lens with me while I was shooting and still managed a decent insect shot.

I'm much too used to working with my 40mm and have been trying to ween myself off of it. As amazing as that lens is, I do need to venture out and practice with some of my other gear... once in a while.

Cateran Yomp 2022

A group of Trandoshans hunters gathered on the plant to enjoy their favorite hobby: hunting down Wookiee prisoners. Preferably unarmed Wookiees because it’s not so “fun” when the prey shoots back (I never liked Trandoshans).

According to their “traditions” the group of ten Trandoshans brought the unarmed Wookiee prisoner to this planet where they started their little twisted show.

However on the planet there is another hunter. Someone who came here to track down a prey worth of legend and he is not pleased by the cowardice of these “Space Lizards”.

The Predator tracks down the Trandoshans, killing the dishonorable hunters one by one.

As the Space Lizards meet their demise the Wookiee enjoys his staying on the planet.

Sometimes very good things come from crossovers and the Wookiee is very pleased by this particular one.

The Predator is one of the action figures by Neca based on the Predator Dark Horse Comics.

Made this about 2 years ago for a lego statue contest my LUG was holding. Forgot to photoshoot it then, and later I had too much stress over studies to do it. Seems oddly fitting to upload it now with Bionicle 20th anniversary coming this year.

Sadly Lord Kitchener never got to occupy the building that he bought in 1911, owing to the ongoing and extensive renovations, before he died during the Great War in 1916

I, on the other hand, slept well here!.

I spied this in the garden and loved the way the pretty dandelion seeds gathered on this leaf.

Once a humble Ta-Matoran, Gatherer was caught in a horrible foundry accident that left behind nothing but mangled, mostly melted remains.

He was almost completely overhauled by Karzahni, becoming more machine than Matoran. His most notable new power is the ability to assimilate robot parts into his own form, turning him into a powerful and adaptable juggernaut.

Since then, he has become one of the Dark Hunters' most dangerous listed hunters, specializing in sabotage and industrial espionage.

Landers and rovers on Mars gather data that help scientists answer fundamental questions about the geology, atmosphere, surface environment, history of water and potential for life on the Red Planet.

To get these insights to Earth, they first transmit the data up to spacecraft in orbit around Mars. These orbiters then use their much larger, more powerful transmitters to ‘relay’ the data across space to Earth.

“Normally, an orbiter like ESA’s Mars Express first sends down a hail signal to a rover as a ‘hello’,” says James Godfrey, Mars Express Spacecraft Operations Manager.

“The rover then sends back a response to establish stable communications and begin the two-way exchange of information. But this relies on the rover’s radio system being compatible with the orbiter’s.”

As Mars Express transmits its ‘hello’ signal using communication frequencies that are different from those the Chinese Zhurong Mars rover receives, two-way communication is not possible.

But in the other direction, Zhurong can transmit a signal using a frequency that Mars Express can receive.

The relay radio on Mars Express has a mode that allows this one-way communication – communication ‘in the blind’ where the sender can’t be sure if their signal is being received – but until now, the technique hadn’t been tested on the spacecraft.

In November, ESA’s Mars Express and CNSA’s Zhurong teams carried out a series of experimental communication tests in which Mars Express used this ‘in the blind’ mode to listen for signals sent to it by the Zhurong Rover.

The experiments culminated in a successful test on 20 November.

“Mars Express successfully received the signals sent by the rover, and our colleagues in the Zhurong team confirmed that all the data arrived on Earth in very good quality.” says ESA’s Gerhard Billig.

“We’re looking forward to carrying out more tests in future to continue to experiment and further improve this method of communicating between space missions.”

The data relayed by Mars Express arrived on Earth at ESA’s ESOC space operations centre in Darmstadt, Germany, via deep-space communication antennas. From there, these data were forwarded to the Zhurong team at the Beijing Aerospace Flight Control Center, who confirmed the success of the test.

I took this last week, so it is not freshly off the camera, but I like it.

This week's topic reminds me, I have to take more photos as a family, including me.

My second rover for Febrovery is a re-imagining of set 6896 Celestial Forager. John had bought me a bunch of magnets a couple years ago, and they were some of the only pieces I brought with me when moving. So I’m glad to put them to use here!

I included most of the original’s main features with an articulating body, magnetic crane, and in my rendition the radar dish can be raised or lowered. Making this brought back a lot of fun memories of building vehicles for my youngest brother to play with.

Ninebarrow "Gather It In"

Tererai gathered girls from the village into a circle to talk to them about their dreams. Then they wrote their goals on a piece of paper and placed them in tin boxes for saving in their own secret spots. Tererai's mother (blue dress, leaning against the house) also joined the circle to share her wisdom with the girls.
