Every evening pilgrims and visitors gather to view a performance of Ganga Aarti in Varanasi, India. Aarti is a Hindu religious ritual of worship in which light from wicks soaked in ghee (purified butter) or camphor and is offered to one or more deities.
This tradition is thousands of years old and in modern days the Aarti is a choreographed spectacle of a show with priests in traditional Indian clothes.

The roundhouse is now used as industrial units and the turntable has been reinstated having had £120,000 spent on it prior to the visit of the Flying Scotsman.

With the sun about to dip below the horizon in the west, Class 220 Voyager No. 220030 crosses the Royal Border Bridge at Berwick-upon-Tweed with 1S47, the 10:27 Plymouth to Edinburgh service on Thursday 25th September 2025. It was fortunate that a train passed on the down road, and with the light like this, before it was too late.
This moment was the culmination of an idyllic hour or so spent beside the gently flowing River Tweed.

A message from Charlie...good advice. :) Most of the porch furniture is in the garage for the winter...he knows it's getting serious.
Adrienne gathered a few things, having no idea what might be needed or for how long. She pulled on her sweatshirt, her mind still swimming with unanswered questions.
“Who are they—the men that are after me… us?”
Kayla met her gaze, her expression serious. “I’ll explain everything soon. But they’re not men. They only look that way so they can be among humans can hide what they really are. They can look any way they like”
Adrienne swallowed hard.
“Then… what are they?”
Kayla hesitated, just for a moment. “They’re descendants of the Earth’s original inhabitants. In their true form, they’re reptilian—very dangerous, cunning, and completely ruthless.” She exhaled sharply. “They want the power the VDD gives us, but the device doesn’t work for them. They need a jumper—like us—to operate it.”
Adrienne’s pulse quickened. “And you said I was ‘one of us.’ What does that mean?”
Kayla’s focus remained locked on the window, scanning the street outside. “Forget everything you think you know about history and the story of mankind. Our ancestors arrived on earth millions of years ago—long before recorded history. You’re living in the fourth great civilization. But the reptilians… they control almost everything again.”
“You, I, are both are of the ancient bloodline of the Jahri.”, continued Kayla. “Only people like us can access the power of the VDD”.
Before Adrienne could process the revelation, both girls sensed danger. Then the sudden creak of the back door shattered the moment.
Both girls spun around.
“They’re here!” Kayla hissed. “Time to jump. Take my hand—just like before!”
And in an instant, they vanished.

I took a quick run down to the 'Hill on the way home last night and on the way spotted these straw bales. There was one guy busy tying them onto the trailers in readiness for storage. They'd managed to do all this in one day so no chance for me of any nice straw bale shots with Scrabo in the background......well, except this one :)
A small flock of fig birds gathered on the electricity wires near us this afternoon and hopped around a bit for a while, changing places and chatting amongst themselves. It was too late for too much colour so I pressed a couple of sliders instead. Probably pretty close to how it was!

As you may have gathered by some of my shots over the past couple of years, I've been fascinated by the possibility of shooting Sunrise along the Southern California Coast. When I first began shooting Corona Del Mar a couple of years ago, I saw it strictly as a sunset location. But after I began to look for sunrise locations, I noticed that the area around Arch Rock did, in fact, face Southeast which meant that during the Winter months, the sun would rise over the water on this stretch of coastline.
So last December, I headed down at 5 AM and got more than a little bit wet in my 7th attempt at a sunrise in this location. The 7th time turned out to be a charm as I finally found some color on this particular morning. The view in this shot is just South of Arch rock looking South in Corona Del Mar. I've always been drawn to the rock formation in the foreground in this shot but have had trouble working it into a composition. It seemed to work on this particular morning.
If you would like more ideas on where to shoot the sunrise on the Southern California Coast, please feel free to check out my article on The Resonant Landscape at

I recently released a collection of eighteen images from a short, enjoyable, and productive canyon trip in Utah. It was my first time actually backpacking in the southwest and the experience left me looking forward to more such trips. Have to thank my good friends Paul Bowman and Eric Bennett for making the trip a great one. If you'd like to view the collection and read a bit more about the trip feel free to check them out on my website. Hope you enjoy them!
