The support wires on the Golden Gate bridge.

Again a shot trying out the Sony DSC-HX60 - Interestingly on auto mode the camera shot multiple times and processed the pictures together in camera, I think this gives a nice view of a shaded fence looking out into a bright sunny field. Then I cropped the image slightly on the PC

When Amman was declared the capital of Transjordan in 1921, royalty, wealthy families, businessmen, army officers, and politicians began moving onto the hill to the west and above downtown, named Jabal Amman. It slowly declined starting in the 1960s as development continued to move west. In 2005, the Greater Amman Municipality recognized Jabal Amman as a 'heritage attraction point' and set forth plans to preserve and develop the historic hill.

In Old Mesilla, near Las Cruces, New Mexico, there are buildings that have been there since the mid 19th century. Josefina's is one such place.

This is the old gate to Josefina's cafe. It's a landmark, a place that is used for reference, as in "Just across from Josefina's gate" or "Down the block from Josefina's gate." There's another entrance to the cafe, and as far as I know, this one is never opened.

Nothing in Old Mesilla (otherwise known as La Mesilla or just Mesilla) is changed or altered without permission from the town. The city square is a historic landmark. It's a small village of little more than 2,000 people, but great in historic significance, if for just the buildings there.

If you look close you can see a long "ristra" or string of chili peppers hanging out to dry to the right of the doors. Peppers are one of the prime crops grown in the region. Pecan and Pistachio orchards abound, along with many wine vineyards.

The texture of the adobe on this fence and the grain of the wood really speak of history to me.

The sculpture and AT&T Plaza are located on top of Park Grill, between the Chase Promenade and McCormick Tribune Plaza & Ice Rink. Constructed between 2004 and 2006, the sculpture is nicknamed The Bean because of its legume-like shape.

A closeup of the Ishtar Gate. A true technological and artistic marvel of the world.

The Ishtar Gate (Arabic: بوابة عشتار‎, Persian: دروازه ایشتار‎‎) was the eighth gate to the inner city of Babylon. It was constructed in about 575 BC by order of King Nebuchadnezzar II on the north side of the city. It was excavated in the early 20th century and a reconstruction using original bricks is now shown in the Pergamon Museum, Berlin.
