The Gap
My first post on here for a long while, will have to make more of an effort.
Just back from a quick visit up Scotland to the wonderful Glencoe. The night before We left I had to make a plan to be at a location for sunrise, not too far away though so We were not getting up at stupid o'clock to get there. Anyway I decided on Sycamore Gap, which is on the way and is only just over an hours journey. Checked the weather...not bad, checked the sun angle using LighTrac on My Ipad...spot on, the sun will light up the hills as it rises. Even picked My spot using Google Street View. Now all that sounds perfect but You never really know how the conditions will be and change until You are there, at the time. Thankfully the planning paid off, the weather was good, the sun came up and lit the hills as I had hoped and the spot I picked was really ideal. Planning paid off....this time. Hope You Enjoy it, and please keep checking back as I have a few nice shots from Scotland to share with You all. Thanks!
Parowan Gap
Iron County
Utah
August 2023
The Parowan Gap is a remarkable geological feature located in southwestern Utah. This unique gap, formed by the eroding forces of wind and water over millions of years, boasts a captivating collection of natural rock art and petroglyphs etched into its towering red sandstone cliffs. These ancient petroglyphs, created by Native American tribes, provide a fascinating glimpse into the spiritual and cultural heritage of the region's indigenous peoples. The Parowan Gap has long been a place of cultural significance and is recognized for its celestial alignment with the summer and winter solstices, emphasizing its importance as an astronomical observatory for ancient civilizations. Today, it continues to be a destination for those interested in archaeology, geology, and the preservation of Native American history.

Series of five including two videos. Monday it was very windy and very little was flying. The sea was nearly on hightide and starting to wash the bottom on the cliffs at Birling Gap. One pic shows a recent cliff fall which has led to the National Trust cafe being closed. They intend to move it further inland. Erosion has taken many buildings in this particular area and does not intend to stop any time soon!

On our way to see the company that is going to make my son's officer's sword took a detour. By now it was lashing down with rain! I do not see that house surviving there much longer.

This is a shot taken on the shore of Lough Mourne overlooking the famous Barnesmore Gap Mountains in the distance. This is a very famous area of Ireland due to its natural untouched beauty and the massive gap between the Bluestack Mountains. Old Irish tales say these mountains were split by Giants!
