This fine building at Royal Park in Launceston, was opened in 1891 to house the collections of the Royal Society of Tasmania and the Launceston Mechanics Institute (founded in 1842). It was later named the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery (QVMAG). In 1998 the collection was split into the Museum at Inveresk (at the old rail yards), and this building houses the city's art collection.

The Sculpture Gallery is one of the few buildings that remain standing from the Trentham estate. The main hall was demolished in 1912-3. The developer of Trentham Gardens, St Modwen Properties, has plans to rebuild the Hall as a hotel and conference centre, but the economic recession has put the project on hold.

This is a photo of one of the ceilings in the Borghese Gallery in Rome. I have not been able to find out anything about it.

From comment by Eric below who just happens to be my brother-in-law. Thank you very much.

Room of the Bacchantes

Room 12

This small room takes its name from the fresco in the centre of the ceiling, which depicts three women dancing within frames of ivy decorated all around by floral motifs, garlands, festoons, and musical instruments that recall the grotesques and stuccos of ancient Roman villas. Felice Giani (1758-1823) executed it between 1782 and 1785 as a reworking of the decorations of the Domus Aurea and Hadrian’s Villa, which he visited regularly. galleriaborghese.beniculturali.it/en/il-museo/la-villa/sa...

I also visited this place in 1986. it was a class trip lol. I can remember it exactly. Did I mention that we were bullies we pulled everything into the ridiculous. So there was nothing behind me where today the Frauenkirche stands again not even a construction fence or proper barriers. No, there was nothing, as so often in the GDR.

Why now this photo? Well, behind me there was nothing so I looked at the Kunsthalle. They were not used yes the GDR, the art gallery was simply not used. Art and GDR we still laugh about it today. Some certainly think what I take the liberty here to talk so. Lol! Anyway, I found the hall at that time already very impressive.

Today I'm standing here photographing this thing.

What an opportunity to turn his gaze. There are many feelings ;) At that time there was not Biosphere and also no Internet. Enjoy the view. PS: I like the little people there!
