Apparently Great Blue Herons prefer their great green gobs of gopher guts squeaky clean rather than greasy and grimy like we sang about in the elementary school cafeteria. Plucked from the field and thoroughly washed in the pond near the corner of 4th Street in Lamar, Texas.

This is an image I could have uploaded a while ago but didn't have the guts to crop down. For some reason I was in a different frame of mind today and felt like taking an axe to it figuring that I'm hardly likely to offend anyone if I do. The only problem is it now lacks resolution so I've added a border to pad it out a bit. Actually, I think it does look better but more importantly it won't use up so much ink on my printer now!
This image has a significance for me as it taught me how to be patient and wait for the light. In fact I probably wouldn't have stayed as long as I did had it not been for the renowned landscape photographer Charlie Waite standing next to me at the time, the most patient gentleman I think I have ever met!

Mr. Greedy Guts here would still be eating, chattering away at Little Momma and making sure she did not try to get to the feeder. Here he is keeping an eye to make sure she is not sneaking around the tree trunk to get a morsel.
