I hope you have had a good start to the New Year! :)
Today the temperature dipped below -40 degrees Celsius in Muonio, on the Swedish border. That is colder than at any time this winter. The lowest temperature ever recorded in Finland was -51.5 degrees, in 1999 at Pokka, Kittilä.
Finland won world championship gold against Russia in World Juniors (men under 20’s) ice hockey at Helsinki Arena on Tuesday night with a score 4-3.
Soon after, two men undressed naked and went for a “swim” into the empty fountain of Havis Amanda at the Market Square in an ice cold weather of -20 degrees Celsius. As a symbol for the victory and, yes, Finnish guts and madness :D

Mr. Greedy Guts here would still be eating, chattering away at Little Momma and making sure she did not try to get to the feeder. Here he is keeping an eye to make sure she is not sneaking around the tree trunk to get a morsel.
