Our Daily Challenge 30 August - 5 September :Memorabilia
I was never actually a Girl Guide, but a Sea Ranger, the older version.
On the second day, at 2.30am, we ascended from Laban Rata Resthouse to the Summit.
The weather was fine and the moon was shining so brightly that we could even hike up the mountain without torchlight. The oxygen level was getting lower each time we ascended.
I wanted to give up, initially, but after much encouragement from our guide I carried on, simply for one reason: I wanted to catch the sunrise view at the top of Mount Kinabalu. Being determined & BREATHING HARD, up I went! Not forgetting, PRAYER, too. I wanna specially thank Joyce for being my prayer partner. We prayed & we climbed, step by step. And then she reminded me of this song:
Every move I make
I make in You
You make me move Jesus
Every breath I take
I breathe in You
Every step I take
I take in You
You are my way Jesus
Every breath I take
I breathe in You

Ráday mansion, Pécel, Hungary
The Raday manison is a surreal place; there is an extensive restoration project in progress. There are some guided tours but you have to wait outside of the building (in 35 C).
The Baroque mansion was built by the Ráday family in the late 18th century and it was designed by Andreas Mayerhoffer, architect of the Grassalkovich palace of Gödöllő. They had a fantastic book and manuscript collection and some good paintings (mostly from Cranach the elder).
The Ráday were forced to sell the palace and the library to cover their debt in the second half of the 19th century. Since then the building has been mostly abandoned. It was damaged during WW2. The Hungarian State Railway saved the mansion and used it as a hospital between 1953-1956, but the most of the paintings were destroyed, most of the fireplaces were transformed into doorways. The library remained intact because
it was the examination room. Part of the painting fell down and behind it appeared the original sketches of the painters. The park was used as a construction site. The remainder of the park is dangerous to walk in windy weather due to the falling trees.
The Hungarian State Railways turned over the building to the Hungarian Privatization and State Holding Company for free in 1998.
