Oh oh oh oh oh, I'm hooked on a feeling! Thanks to my man Ramón! for helping me complete my classic GotG lineup.
Please note: In particular (and to pre-empt questions) Gamora is a one time test run which Ramon will not be re-printing. If there is enough demand we might consider a limited run in the future.

On Achernon, Korath stands over a man. He wields a baton in each hand. The man screams in an alien language for mercy. Korath just laughs at the man and lowers one baton to the man’s head. This causes the man on the ground to silence his whimpers.
”You feel that? That’s a baton capable of killing a man more powerful than the Mad Titan himself.”
“Please! I’ve got a family.”
”Then you know the imperativeness that your information is to me.”
“I said I don’t know where the gem is! You’ve got to believe me!”
”Unfortunately for you. I do believe you.” Korath presses a button on his baton that sends an electrical blast down the baton and it hits the man’s head. Fortunately for the man, the blast does not kill him, but instead just sends him unconscious. Korath holsters his weapons and turns to his men.
“What do we do know?” One asks.
”We keep looking.”
Just outside the building Korath and his men stand, Star-Lord’s ship lands and Peter jumps out of the cockpit. He makes his way to the entrance and peaks into the building. Peter notices Korath and his men.
”Rora. How many are in there?”
”I’m seeing six heartbeats. Five have hostile intent as the other seems to be in a state of unconsciousness.”
”Good.”
Peter pulls his gun from it’s holster and readies it. He takes a deep breath in and kicks the door in. This causes all five men inside to turn their attention to the entrance. Peter stands there smiling underneath his mask.
”Star-Lord!” Korath says as he takes his batons out of their holsters.
”Hey! I’ve got some questions for you, Korath. You do realize Achernon has a no invasion sign on it’s front lawn?”
”Indeed! That’s why this is no invasion. Just a mere reconnaissance mission.”
”Reconnaissance? For what?”
”If I told you that, I’d have to kill you, and I have no intentions to do so. Not yet anyways.”
”Aw, thanks. Unfortunately for you, your hostile actions on this planet give me every right to bring you in for breaking the no-invasion law.”
”Well then.” Korath signals his men to ready their weapons and take aim against Star-Lord. As they do so, Korath takes a defensive stance and smiles. ”Go right ahead.”
Day 3. After taking the shot at the Cathedral yesterday I got roped into a shopping spree in the New Year sales in Norwich. Being a big kid I couldn't resist a quick look in the Disney Store. And what do I find? Only the Starlord costume reduced by 75% :) I'm not sure who was the happiest, me or my 10 year old son. Anyhoo, here he is, a very happy 10 year boy in his Starlord costume.
Can you imagine these two running around together? Maybe Groot will make a cameo appearance in an upcming episode of The Mandalorian.

I think this picture showcases the true strength of the MCU (and MARVEL generally). Even as a self-professed MARVEL fanatic, I can admit that by pure popularity and sheer recognition it's hard to beat DC's Trinity (Supes, Bat, WW). But then what? MARVEL takes the cake. It's the breadth and depth of the MARVEL universe that makes it so special. Look at the variety and numbers of awesome characters above. Take Ant-Man for instance. Honestly, where does he rank in the MARVEL depth chart? Is he even a Top 10 character in terms of popularity? But yet the strength of the the MCU means he will likely do a bonafide film trilogy -- what's the 15th most popular DC character -- whoever it is, there is no way that character gets a film (let alone a trilogy). Guardians of the Galaxy? Who even knew about them a few years ago? Nobody outside of true blue comic book readers. Zilch. Gamora-who? But now? Groot is a cultural phenomenon. Everyone knows (but more importantly) LOVES baby Groot.
Look at the Green Lantern disaster as a case in point, who is squarely a mainstream DC character, (arguably top 5 -- an original JL member). My prediction? Those upcoming Green Lantern movies are gonna come up way, way short. And for the record I'm not a "hater". Wonder Woman? Great film. Dark Knight trilogy? About as good as it gets. If the Green Lantern films do well -- great for DC. But it won't. That's just my take.
And remember, we are not even including the X-Men or Fantastic Four or Deadpool!! Think about that for a minute -- the MCU is missing 2 of THE most popular MARVEL characters (heck comic book characters) in recent history: Wolverine and Deadpool and yet it doesn't skip a beat. Avengers goes toe to toe with JL easily. Now imagine if you had to remove Flash and Batman from the JL -- does it stand up?
Let's look at another way. Take 2 "starting lineup" Avengers out of the picture, does it stand up? Yes, it's called CA: Civil War. But could those 2 characters frontline a blockbuster? Yeah, Thor Ragnorak.
The point is that the MARVEL bench just goes way deeper than DC. Top 3? DC takes it. From there? It's MARVEL all the way -- and frankly, its not even close TBQH (possible hot take -- I get it).
p.s. and for the record, this MCU group above is still missing some pretty popular characters: Ghost Rider, Nick Fury, Coulson, Punisher, Elektra and Quake... Inhumans... Just sayin...

Peter Quill stands on a cliff. The wind of the alien planet sends a chill down his spine. He smiles as he closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. Peter looks down at his boots. They’re new. Barely scuffed and still have that new smell to them. He grabs his belt and flips open a pouch. Quickly, Peter pulls out a small blue box from it. He takes orange headphones out of another pouch and plugs them into the jack. Slowly, Peter places them over his head and presses a button on the blue box. A song begins to play. Peter takes a deep breath and smiles.
“Peter?”
”*sigh* Yes, Rora?” Peter quickly takes off his headphones and puts his Walkman and the headphones back into their respective pouches. He turns around to his ship and begins to walk towards it. He presses a button on his suits collar and his helmet closes over his head.
“Tivan sent out a message. He wants to know how you like the new suit.”
”It’s good. Quite comfortable.”
“Shall I send him that message?”
”Sure…”
“Message sent.”
”Thank you. Anything else?”
“Yes. There’s a Kree outbreak on Achernon.”
”Achernon? That planet was off limits to attacks much like Earth. Why are the Kree there?”
“I’m having a hard time translating the distress signal, but it seems that the Kree leader, Korath, is there.”
”Korath? Why him? He doesn’t seem like the type.”
“Your guess is as good as mine. Shall I set a course?”
”Yes. Let’s go…”

"A second Bowie song in a row?" Yeah, what about it? This song is pretty cool and it's my own Awesome Mix. Don't worry though, this is probably the last song of his I'll be using.

Moving day is coming! I figured I would round them up for a group shot, but was way too lazy to take them out of the display cases...
Oh btw, "Where's Waldo" DC version -- there are 1 and 1/2 DC figs in there somewhere... can you find them? :)
Left to right: Baby Groot, Rocket Raccoon, Nebula, Gamora, Yandu, Star Lord, Mantis and Drax.
Some of these figures are based off of concept art and there comic book looks.
I would like to give a shoutout to @retlaw2390 aka walt, as parts of Groot were inspired by him.
Groot's body is made from one of those Hero Factory skeleton-like minifigs, and was painted brown by me. His head is a regular LEGO head with part of a cut-up LEGO eraser hot glued on, and was then painted brown. The eyes, mouth and floral details (green lines) were then painted on.
Rocket's fur was repainted by me, to try to get it closer to the correct colour. I used to same colour to paint his feet. I added additional details onto his body with paint. The white parts on his head and tail were whitened by my younger self with whiteout about 2 years ago. His gun is a LEGO cylinder piece on one of the double-barreled Alien Conquest guns.

After his close encounter with death, Peter made his way to the civilized planet of Xandar. Here he was meant to meet his employer, Tivan, and give him what he had taken from the Sligs. As he approached the outer atmosphere of the planet, Peter happened to look back and see a fast approaching ship.
"Rora?"
"Yes?"
"Is that a hostile ship?"
"What ship?"
Peter looked back and noticed the ship was approaching his ship aggressively fast. Peter pressed a button on his ship's console to take control again.
"How much do you want to bet this is the guy who shot at us?"
"I do not condone, nor do I have the resources to make bets."
"Yeah, I figured."
Peter spun his ship around to face the oncoming ship. As he did so, the approaching ship began to shoot lasers at Peter's ship.
"Well I guess he doesn't want to talk."
Peter turned his ship back around and made his way into the atmosphere of Xandar. The ship behind him continued to lay down heavy fire upon Quill's ship. Luckily, Peter was able to dodge the shots and was able to safely enter into the planet's atmosphere. The time it took to safely enter into the planet, Peter was able to ready his guns to fire back at the pursuing ship.
"Rora, get ready to take control."
Peter pressed a button on the console giving back control of the ship to the AI. As he did this, Quill got up from his seat and made his way to the back of the ship. He sat down in the rear facing seat and pressed a button that opened up the gun ports. He smiled as he began firing back at the ship that was chasing him.
"Star-Lord, do not forget to let the guns cool down after a long period of firing."
Peter did not answer, but instead began firing more lasers at the pursuing ship as it in turn fired back at him.
"Come on! Just go down!" Peter exclaimed as he pressed the triggers again. This let out three bursts from either gun. Luckily, the blasts hit the pursuing ship and caused it to spiral to the surface of Xandar. "Haha! Yes! That's what you get for messing with Star-Lord!"
Peter gets up from his seat and makes his way back to the pilot seat. He pats the console as he sits down.
"Alright, let's get to the city..."

While the 2014 Guardians of the Galaxy LEGO sets were fantastic, the weakest one by far would be the 76019 Starblaster Showdown, partially due to its inaccurate rendition of the Nova Starblaster itself.
To give the ship the angular build that it deserves, I completely removed the original curvature-based cockpit and replaced it with one made out of SNOT pieces and the new X-Wing canopy in trans-grey, with a vertical tile piece in the middle for extra angles.
Currently, I'm keeping the original wings and thrusters, but I may return to improve upon those aspects later, so any suggestions/comments would be appreciated.
