The Pontiac GTO, often considered the first true muscle car, became an instant legend with its powerful V8 engine and bold design. With its iconic “GTO” badge, the car represented a new era of performance and set the stage for the muscle car movement.
Fun Fact: The GTO stands for “Gran Turismo Omologato,” a nod to its heritage as a high-performance homologation model.

The original "F-car" with the GTO moniker, the stunning 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO. Leaving the concourse before the 2011 Sun Valley Road Rally. Not the greatest panning, I did a LOT better today, but I like how this came out. Really amazing car, sounds fantastic, hit 138 mph in the rally, and one of the most amazing cars I've ever seen.

Well here is my classic car find of the day. A 1966 Pontiac GTO a beautiful classic American muscle car. It came with a 389 cubic inch (6.4 liter) 336 HP V8 engine. The factory version was rated to go 0 to 60 MPH in 7.9 seconds but many owners of these cars added modifications that added another 100-200 horsepower, adding racing shifters, custom carburetors and manifolds, racing clutch plates and changing the transmission and or deferential gear ratios to boost acceleration and maximum speed. I talked to the owner a senior fellow about my age who said he got this car up to over 140 MPH when he first got this car about thirty five years ago.
