The Isle of Rhum at twilight

The #1 example was from a couple of weeks back; or thereabouts. Gulls heading into the golden hour's yellow light take on a different air.

* The Grand Canyon is a steep-sided canyon carved by the Colorado River in Arizona, United States. The Grand Canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long, up to 18 miles (29 km) wide and attains a depth of over a mile (6,093 feet or 1,857 meters).[5]

The canyon and adjacent rim are contained within Grand Canyon National Park, the Kaibab National Forest, Grand Canyon–Parashant National Monument, the Hualapai Indian Reservation, the Havasupai Indian Reservation and the Navajo Nation. President Theodore Roosevelt was a major proponent of the preservation of the Grand Canyon area and visited it on numerous occasions to hunt and enjoy the scenery.

Nearly two billion years of Earth's geological history have been exposed as the Colorado River and its tributaries cut their channels through layer after layer of rock while the Colorado Plateau was uplifted. While some aspects about the history of incision of the canyon are debated by geologists, several recent studies support the hypothesis that the Colorado River established its course through the area about 5 to 6 million years ago. Since that time, the Colorado River has driven the down-cutting of the tributaries and retreat of the cliffs, simultaneously deepening and widening the canyon.

For thousands of years, the area has been continuously inhabited by Native Americans, who built settlements within the canyon and its many caves. The Pueblo people considered the Grand Canyon a holy site, and made pilgrimages to it. The first European known to have viewed the Grand Canyon was García López de Cárdenas from Spain, who arrived in 1540.

Gloaming, or twilight, the time after sunset and before dark, was celebrated in Sir Harry Lauder's "Roamin' In The Gloamin". Lauder was a much loved music hall star who spread the word beyond Scotland and Northumberland in his signature song.

When I was returning from the spot of flic.kr/p/2qQsuV5 I looked back at my path, and as you can see that horizon cloud was now behind the trees, testament to how far I walked, but I love pushing myself even in freezing temperatures, I decided to let the camera do some of the work, and utilising the Scene settings, turned it to Sunset and pulled off a few shots.

This image rather strikes a chord as to how I see my past, a wilderness, frozen, a path never to be trod upon again and I rather like it that way. Somewhat keeps me in the present where hence one can only ever be.

I hope all is well and so as always, thank you! 😊

Condo caught my attention very early am with the lines and diagonals creating interesting shapes and light/dark shadow contrast. Not very impressive once sun comes up.

Just before sunrise.

I had intended to go straight down to the beach but who could resist that sky?

I've lightened the sky a little and added some Dehaze but the sky saturation has actually been reduced.

I was shocked, looking down to the beach, to see quite so many boulders on the upper level as this area is usually pretty free of large rocks and is clean, open sand.

Ardmore is located off the A814 between Cardross and Helensburgh. Take the road down to the shore, parking is situated beyond the level crossing. There is a circular footpath around Ardmore Point though the path on the west side can be difficult after heavy rain and very muddy.

There can be large numbers of Curlew and Oystercatcher roosting both the North & South bays at high tide with smaller numbers of Redshank. In the autumn there can be small numbers of Grey Plover, Knot, Black-tailed and Bar-tailed Godwit and Whimbrel. Whimbrel also occur in spring - especially May.

During October to May large numbers of Red-throated Divers and Great Crested Grebe can be seen. This is a good site to see wintering Slavonian Grebe with the Clyde now being of International Importance for the species.

In addition there are the usual Eider, Red-breasted Merganser, Shag, Black Guillemot, Shelduck etc.
