I was so inspired by packofhuskies's gorgeous Christmas light shots yesterday that I decided to go out in the gloaming with the camera. When I stepped into the yard, three herons were circling overhead, calling to each other.

I love the gloaming; it's easily my favourite time of day to take pictures, even if I have to use my 2 megapixel Nokia phone. One of the delights of dusk is how vapour trails turn pink.
