Once in two months I do some archival work at the Ministry of Social Affairs. It has to do with the GDPR (AVG in Dutch) and the Public Records Act (Archiefwet). Some documents has to be destroyed once every few months.

Gestern flog unser Seniorpartner Prof. Ehlers zur Sommerkonferenz 2018 der von Peter Braachi (Schweiz) und ihm vor über 21 Jahren gegründeten Conference Bleue European Lawyers‘ Conference on Pharmaceutical and Health Care Affairs nach Amsterdam. Nach ersten Meetings wurde die Konferenz gestern mit einem Dinner für die Mitglieder der Conference Bleue eröffnet. Heute stehen Referate und Diskussionen zu „Pricing and reimbursement developments“, „Transparency of Payments to Healthcare Professionals, Healthcare Organisations and Patients Organisations“, „Update and EU competition law developments“, „Dyspnoea: consequences of bird flu or regulatory export regime?“, „EMA in Amsterdam. Perspective from the Dutch Medicine Agency“, „Update on significant EU regulatory developments“ and „The EFPIA perspective on GDPR and its implementation“ auf der Agenda.
On March 12, the Chicago Kent Cyber-Security and Data Privacy Society hosed a panel discussion titled "I Got 99 Problems but Privacy Ain't One: A Panel on Data Rights in the Digital Age" on emerging data privacy issues. Three Chicago-Kent Faculty Members spoke::
- Prof. Mike Gentithes on using digital information in Criminal Procedure post-Carpenter
- Prof. Richard Warner on the state of legislative protections for personal data
- Prof. Edward Lee on The Right to Be Forgotten under GDPR
Mrs P and I drove into Worcester early this morning so that she could get to her volunteering job. We took in a couple of bags of books that we sorted through a couple of days ago. I had my usual coffee in their café. After this a had a wander down by the river and then the riverside park. In here they have four bowling greens that are open to the public.
Back home I got on with some air rifle team admin. The new season is around the corner and paperwork is flying about.
After lunch I continued with Clerk work sorting out GDPR policy amendments that will need parish council approval. I also had to do some bank records research as I'd had an email from a service supplier that the cheque we sent back in March had gone 'missing' after they had posted it to their bank. As it is still not yet six months old there're some back processes to sort out to cancel the cheque from our side before a new one could be issued. One more thing ...!
Security holes have been found in the WhatsApp app since 2011. In May 2011, Dutch researchers found a flaw that allows a user's WhatsApp account to be hijacked. In 2012, a hacker released a website that allowed people to impersonate an arbitrary WhatsApp user. In August 2012, WhatsApp announced that messages were encrypted in its latest version.
In November 2014, WhatsApp launched Read Receipts, a feature that sends reminders when messages are read. A Canadian-Dutch inquiry into a privacy and security problem has been concluded. WhatsApp in August 2016 announced that it would share your phone number and account information with Facebook. Users may choose not to share their data with Facebook for advertising purposes.
On April 5, 2016, WhatsApp enabled all end-to-end encrypted messages. Amnesty International and security industry welcomed the move; FBI criticized it as challenging law enforcement. Some other messaging services also offer end- to-end encryption by default, such as iMessage and Viber.
In December 2019, WhatsApp discovered a security loophole that allows for malicious GIFs to obtain access to a recipient's data. WhatsApp announced they would take legal action against consumers who sent excessively high amount of messages. To have extra protection WhatsApp has made their app inaccessible on phones using the older Android 2.3.7 and older and iPhone iOS 8 and older.
The NSO Organization signed a deal with WhatsApp for the accusation of human rights violations. In January of 2021, WhatsApp announced that it will begin exchanging user data with Facebook. The new Privacy Policy will be implemented in the EU, as it is in line with the GDPR.
