Macro Mondays - Safety - 01 Feb 2021.
The obvious safety feature is the fuse, but according to Wikipedia, there are several misconceptions about the reason for the fuse. Apparently the fuse is in the plug to protect the flexible cord between the plug and appliance under fault conditions, not as generally thought, protecting the appliance connected to the plug and protecting against overloading.
The humble plug has several other safety features as mentioned in the Wikipedia reference below:

I struggled with this theme as electronic components just give me an immediate stuffy feeling. I was scratching my head and ready to throw in the towel until I popped the hood of my car (surroundings that are more comfortable). As soon as I opened the fuse panel I knew that little chartreuse 20 amp fuse was going to be my centerpiece. Its color was almost fluorescent in the muted morning light I had to work with, and it played nicely with the blue and black surrounding.
