PERSONAL FUN FACT written by my sister: When I think Teen Fun Cheerleader, I think "ugly doll, very bad haircut." When we got our first used dolls from our grandparents, I remember one being a Skipper with extremely cut hair. I believe it to have been one of these Cheerleaders. When I was about seventeen, I bought another Cheerleader with butchered hair from "the case people" for FIVE DOLLARS (she made my balding Hawaiian Fun look like a good deal). I am glad I bought this doll for one reason: she came in a pink 80s Skipper dress that I still only have one of. However, I admit the seller tried to con me, "This doll is really old." Even back then I knew she wasn't, I had tons of similar Skippers at home. However, at the time, I thought the dress (which proved to be early 80s) was vintage so I bought it. I don't have the decapitated, butchered Skipper anymore.
When, sometime shortly thereafter, I found the dolly on the right, I admit I didn't show her any love or respect. Due to the bitter experience with my last Cheerleader (whose head fell off on the way home from the flea market the day I bought her), I just didn't like Cheerleaders much. I even contemplated getting rid of this doll back before we started collecting again! I'm glad I've seen past my initial Cheerleader Teen problem. She's actually a very cute doll--I love the pigtails! I wore pigtails my entire middle school career. I don't know WHY I didn't see her potential years ago--she was one of the Teen Fun dolls advertised in my Party Teen doll's pamphlet! I mean, she was totally iconic, or should have been, to me. I found the cutie on the left on our first day of flea market season in 2015, at the same flea market I bought the raunchy Cheerleader Teen from circa 2004. Unlike every other Cheerleader Teen that has lived in the house, this girl came to me with her whole outfit! I think she's a real cutie! While I prefer the cheerleading fashion pack that my older doll is wearing, I think the original outfit is cute too! I also prefer the lay of her hair to my other doll's. I think it is interesting that they have two-toned hair. It's unique! While I showed her no respect, I actually think my childhood doll has a prettier face than my more recent acquisition!
