Our next stop was a shop on Broadway at 22nd Street. To get there, we passed by the Flatiron Building, one of the first skyscrapers in New York. It sits on a narrow lot between Broaday and Fifth Avenue. It was built in 1902 to a design by the Chicago architect Daniel Burnham.

The building was designed to be the headquarters of the Fuller Company, originally it was named the Fuller Building, but the Flatiron came from a nickname that stuck.
