actually, I understand that the "real" full moon will be just a little after midnight tomorrow, but it looks pretty full tonight!

Even with a very bright moon, the milky way was visible to the north - along with the Andromeda Galaxy (top right)!

The full moon looked so good when I got home from work late this afternoon (5th August, 2009) that I couldn't resist taking some shots. I didn't have a lot of luck (skill) getting a good clean shot of the moon - the middle of this image was my best effort there - so I decided to try some silhouettes of the plants growing in my front garden.
This is a collage of 21 handheld shots. The 20 silhouettes were taken with the out-of-focus moon as a backdrop.
Some of these were taken from a distance with the plant in it's normal position - such as the leaves in a tall gumtree 2nd from left, bottom row. Others were close-ups of parts of plants also in their normal position. For some others, I broke off pieces of the plant and held them at arm's length against the moon while holding the camera and pressing the shutter with my other hand.
Considering it was quite cold and I was shaking a lot, I was quite happy with the result for many of them.
Check it out large on black, its loads better

The Moon is really bright tonight. I shot this in RAW converted into TIFF, and somehow, all EXIF info was lost. Good thing I still have the original in my memory card: Spot Metering at 1/500 f/5.6 ISO400. I used my friends Nikon 80 - 200 mm 1:2.8 lens at max. zoom which equates to 300mm in my DSLR.
I have had many attempts in photographing the moon and had much help from Paul Forsdick's Flickr page at www.flickr.com/photos/paulforsdick/sets/72157594158976126/
Paul provides a lot of details on how he shots his moon. Thanks Paul!

8 años haciendo fotos y aún no le había hecho una foto a la luna. Se que no es original, pero bueno, hay que hacerla ;) (crop 100% de la foto original)
