Kind of reminds me of the entrance to a speakeasy. I've never seen an entrance to a speakeasy, so I'll just imagine it looks like this.
A preserved cabin where some poor souls tried to make an existence is the American Southwest. Seeing structures like this make you appreciate the hardships some pioneers had to endure.
We stayed in the Frontier Lodge on our visit to the Blue Duck Station. This Lodge has three units and a communal kitchen and dining area. There is no internet, TV or cell service, but plenty of things to do while you are there.
Early explorers and pioneers made St. Charles their place of choice for shopping in the 19th century. Today, you can walk those same brick-lined streets, along the ten-block Nationally Registered Historic District, and shop in those same buildings. You will find unique specialty items, home accessories, jewelry, and many other one-of-a-kind gifts rather than pelts and barrels of nails. Whether you're looking for the perfect gift or just want to treat yourself to something special, there's something on Main Street to suit every taste. See our detailed map to help you explore Main Street.
For well over 200 years, visitors to St. Charles have been settling into comfortable accommodations along Main Street. Some of St. Charles' overnight guests have included explorers, pioneers, statesmen, and steamboat captains. While visiting St. Charles they would have eaten at local establishments like Eckert's Tavern, Farmer's Home Tavern, or The Western House.

Marco's shadow falls on the door
to the 7 Lost Cities of Gold.
Finds a raven's head and rattler's tail
dead in his tracks, this Godforsaken soul's
unwanted here and his curse lingers for years.
Amalia's face hides behind the mask,
sweating on the TV factory line.
That smile on her face is starting to crack,
while welding back the pieces of a shattered heart
that's scattered out here, with the ghosts of her peers.
Searches for her lost child along the River of Tears... the River of Tears
The end of the working week
when drunken worlds meet;
both sides keeping a close eye
for a break in the line here... on the Crystal Frontier
Ramon tightens up his leather belt
and slips on through a hole in the fence.
He can get you anything you want
it might cost you a life, it might cost you
the whole price of freedom here...on the Crystal Frontier,
searching for your lost love along the River of Tears... the River of Tears
Blood spills out on the streets
and bodies are missing for weeks;
both sides keeping a close eye
watching the bullets fly here... on the Crystal Frontier
...Crystal Frontier

At the Italian-Austrian Border. Well, I always thought my Country is called the "Republic of Austria". Here I see only "Austria". It's like somebody calls you with your Surname: "Hey, Miller. Go and get me a Pack of Cigarettes!"

A participant in the Texas Fort Muster poses during the 2019 event in the Stockyards in Fort Worth, Texas. The Texas Forts Muster celebration was created in 2001 to celebrate the heritage of Texas’ Frontier fort settlements, like Fort Worth. The Muster brings together authentic wagons, flags, music, colorful uniforms and military gear from several Texas frontier landmarks, as well as, re-enactors, musicians and other folks interested in Texas’ frontier history. The period of time covered by the celebration was the Texas frontier from the days of the early Republic in 1836, through the settlements on the frontier to the closing of the frontier by the late 1890s. I had a great time talking to re-enactors and taking photos at the event.
