Intention: For this photo, I wanted to focus on capturing the softness of shadows and contours from front light against the features of a face.
Text Reference: In Lesson 27 Light: Frontlight, Ducheman references front light photographs respectively, “It’s probably very well exposed due to the evenness of the scene. It’s just likely that it’s also boring. There are no shadows to create texture, and where there are no shadows there is less depth.” (The Visual Toolbox: 60 Lessons for Stronger Photographs)
Outcome: The photo isn’t super dynamic or interesting, but shows a great fundamental usage of softer light sourcing to showcase more supple and smooth shadowing in the face. The angles around the face that interact with the light give more depth and contrast to the image respectively.
Edits: Exposure Adjustments, Contrast adjustments, Clarity adjustment, mild sharpening, highlight and white boost, shadow and black boost, yellow and orange saturation adjustments, minimal cropping, grain and vignetting.
Last night was the final night of SD's tour! It was awesome, in so many ways!
So normally at the cryer, there's either no light, or it's just shit and all backlights. This time however, the lights were awesome! There was even some frontlighting for once! Shooting on ISO 400 1/80 most the night!
Really happy with how the majority of the shots came out .

Want to feel old? The Original Gameboy is 31 years old. I got this years ago, it got something sticky spilled in it about five years ago. I dismantled it and instead of cleaning it I shoved it in a drawer. I used the most boring fourth of July ever to collect the filthy parts, clean them, and reassemble it. Now I want to build a custom one myself. I need the IPS Gameboy screen kit to start.......
