Poejazzi Fresh Verses, the second superb event in Poejazzi’s Year of the Poet season, brings to The Roundhouse five of the UK’s outstanding young poets and singer-songwriters between the ages of 13 and 25. There’s Matt Skint, hailing from Yorkshire and hailed as the heir to John Cooper Clarke, who at the age of only 2...1 has already been hotly tipped by BBC Radio 1’s Zane Low and by Q Magazine as a “Next Big Thing”. There’s also Dan Cullen, who at 13 is probably the youngest poet to have electrified an audience at the Big Chill Festival. Finally, and no less sublimely, there are the angelic acoustics of Valentina Pappalardo, following in the talented tradition of Nerina Pallot; and the very finest words from Jodi Ann Bickley, the winner of the 2009 Roundhouse Youth Poetry Slam.

In 1946, the New York Life Insurance Company bought the 175-acre Fresh Meadow Country Club (opened 1923) for development as housing. Designed with people in mind, it consists mostly of two-storey row houses, three- to four-storey walkups and two thirteen-storey apartment towers.

Hartlepool College held its annual Fresh Event and Higher Education Fair on Wednesday 10th September, which this year attracted a record fifty-plus exhibitors. New and returning students were able to gain careers, progression and safety advice, meet staff and sign up for enrichment, talk to top employers and grab a load of freebies including food, soft drinks and tons of special discounts.

Peanut Butter & FRESH Raspberry Jam topped with a bit of Blue Berry Honey.
The blue berry honey is not an infused honey. It actually comes from a farm that grows blue berries and has bees. The bees take the pollen from the blue berries and their honey ends up tasting like blue berries. Available at the Milton Farmer's Market. (I'll have to see if he's there this year. I'm almost out.)

Every Sunday, there is a open air market set up in the center of town, featuring locally grown produce and flowers. Here are some regular morning shoppers getting their fruit and vegetables for the coming week.

More than 400 participants gathered at the Poliforum in León, Guanajuato for the 11th annual PMA Fresh Connections: Mexico conference and expo. With an impressive lineup of international speakers, covering hot topics, and a full exposition floor – a true unparalleled networking experience.
Sprouts, red chard, red leaf lettuce, heirloom tomatoes, cucumbers, sun-dried Peruvian olives. All locally grown (minus the Peruvian sun-dried very yummy olives), with a dressing of apple cider vinegar and olive oil.
Fresh and pretty in green, yellow, and white! I've used a pretty vintage hanky for the focal point and added some fresh and fun patterns to border it--and even added a little bit of cotton crocheted edging to add a finishing touch.

Because of the recent Vegan Freaks health podcast and because Dino Sarma has inspired me to eat more whole foods, my boyfriend and I went veggie browsing at the St. Lawrence Market in downtown Torono. We hit a luscious greenmine! Pictured here are two huge bunches of basil (to the left of the picture), fresh mint & parsley, leeks, maroon carrots, pea shoots, portobellos, jicama, parisian potatoes, hydroponic watercress, yellow and orange tomatoes and baby arugula. We also managed to snag some golden beets, pickled capers, Israeli couscous, fresh tamarind paste, arborio rice and blood oranges. Although my boyfriend could not get too excited about any of it (yes, he is vegan), I was in raptures over the basil and mint. The scents are incredible, and I don't even like mint!
