We went around and landed from the opposite direction, getting a good view of the island as a result. The airport on Motu Tuanai is most likely placed so off-kilter due to prevailing winds.

The water is only 80 now. Time to break out the shorties... yes, we're spoiled
The beautiful beaches of Mo'orea in the French Polynesian island chain are gorgeous. Island beaches are always interesting to me as I grew up near the Atlantic where the sand was often choppy and rough, and not a few inches from the last spot you were standing there is a drop down in elevation of several feet; where the ocean seems to want to beat you up with waves and send you sprawling. Here, the waves break way out from the beaches themselves which have a steady and gentle incline back up to land and the sand is always soft. The water, too, is lovely and clear and you can see little fish swimming about doing their thing. And of course, palm trees. Sometimes it seems like the only scary part about island beaches are the impending coconuts that may or may not fall at any moment. Though I wouldn't want to be nearby during a storm. © 2012-Current.
