I dreamed of diving Fakarava for over a decade. It did not disappoint.

From our cabin on Ovation of the Seas.

On our last dive of the trip, at the end of the dive, we were in only 25 feet of water with many sharks still around us. A dive boat sped right over us and spooked the sharks. The sharks headed straight at me and at the last minute, veered away. It was a perfect way to end the diving.

Cruising in Polynesia during the rainy season is risky. They don't stay long in Papeete, but it often rains throughout their stay!

Usually, to get close to sharks or to get lots of sharks, one need to be on a baited dive. French Polynesia has banned shark feeding. It was amazing to dive with large number of sharks, with the sharks being totally calm and approaching very close, without bait.

L'océan pacifique que ça ! ;D

The Manta Ray approaches, but the fish remain calm because they know they have nothing to fear.

The manta ray feeds only on plankton.

Took this photo outside my hotel window. Wow, the sunsets are amazing but very fast. Not like Alaska which you have 2 hours to shoot it.
