I don't know you... but I really do appreciate Winter (yes, it's possible with a ray of sunshine and very warm clothes ;-). I like the feeling of the wind on my face, the cold, the snow and ice covering everything, the silence, the light playing with the ice... lots of amazing shapes, sculptures and transformations happening near "my" lake... hope you will enjoy these pictures (more to come)!

Eurasian Bittern (Botaurus Stellaris) at the edge of a reedbed about to walk out onto the ice. So well camouflaged even its huge feet look like part of its habitat.

Just the sort of icy windswept wasteland every girl wants to visit on their anniversary. I loved it.
This is a point to point trail run. A forty minute bus ride to the starting line (including stopping for a cattle drive crossing the road) brings us to a very significant change in elevation. We the ran mildly uphill for five or six miles, and then about twenty miles of down hill to the finish.

This is where we have to cross to get from the house to the DLR. Beckton Park DLR station is immediately ahead, at the top of the pic, across the road outside the boundary of the park. Immediately behind, at the bottom of the pic, is the pathway through to where we live. The path worn by the people diametrically across the park is usually muddy, and makes the train and the house muddy. It should be paved over. Expecting people to walk round the perimeter of the park is simply ridiculous - it just doesn't happen.

Shot from 16th and Cherry. 4 frames, 1/20th and 1/40th, f9 at 102mm to tiff, to hdr, back to tiff. ProPhoto colorspace really mattered on this one. 35 megapixels in all.

The popular historical town center has many preserved half-timbered houses and narrow streets have remained nearly unchanged since the 18th century. Very touristy in the high season but outside of this busy period you can still explore the beauty of this beautiful town.
