A standing ovation for Jessica Ahlquist. She gave a moving speech about how, when the majority of Rhode Island was spouting hate her way, FFRF was there with love, encouragement, and support.

The Reason Rally took place on the National Mall in Washington, DC on Saturday, March 24, 2012. It was sponsored by many of the country’s largest and most influential secular organizations.

Campo de Fiori, being a pagan and carnal place, was believed suitable for executions. Giordano Bruno was the most important figure to be burnt at the stake there. His crime? He was condemned as a 'freethinker' because he had the audacity to question the orthodoxy that the earth was the centre of the universe. Contending that the earth revolved around the sun cost him his life.
This rucksack is very youthful (which as we all know has nothing to with years, months or days).
It is cool watery blue with a sketch of a sparrow on a branch. There are plump blossoms and foliage in young colors. (It is blue sketchbook from Anna Maria Horner's drawing room collection.)
The lining is a Japanese fabric. Delicate white lace on a young grey green background.
It measures L 13½ in x H 14 in (L 34 cm x H 36 cm). The straps measure 27 in (69 cm).

Kasese Freethinkers Club is a group of few bright brains in Kasese Town western Uganda and mostly they are teachers at Kasese Humanist Primary School. Our aim is to enlighten our students and public in Kasese district about the different aspects of life not limited to good health, good feeding, environment protection, gardening, humanism, debate, explaining the dangers of superstition in our communities and helping the youth to be more self-reliant.

In this scenario, good ol' democratic Uncle Sam is beset by religious communities wanting immunity from secular law while asking to be fed at the public trough. Notice the monkey in the lower left-hand corner - the monkey is Heston's chorus and joker, and appears in many of his cartoons.

This is a very heavy bookend that is in my department at work. I *had* to borrow him and get a picture. Freethought for everyone!
Our country was founded on separation of church and state.
Let's keep it that way.
From The Secular Coalition of America:
This Openly Secular Day, tell your representatives that you’re a Secular Values Voter...
Happy Openly Secular Day!
Today, we're partnering with our member organization, the Center for Inquiry, to encourage atheists, agnostics, humanists, and freethinkers to tell their representatives that they exist and that they vote.
To promote secular values and protect our community and system of government, we, secular Americans, must be active and vocal participants in the political process. Secular Values Voter is a campaign by the Secular Coalition for America to educate political candidates about the significant and rapidly growing secular constituency, the issues they care about, and the values for which they stand.
Take part this Openly Secular Day by letting your representatives know that you’re a Secular Values Voter who believes in freedom, inclusion, equality, and knowledge, and who asks that all Americans be represented equally regardless of their faith or lack thereof.
Educate your lawmakers by sharing your story and what your secular values mean to you!

Charles B. Reynolds was a minister who became a leading freethought lecturer in the 1880s. Heston is referring to an incident that happened in July 1886 in Boonton, New Jersey. Here's a brief history (from the website The Freethought Trail): "Early in 1885 Reynolds made a public appeal for funds to purchase a tent of the type favored by tent revival preachers, money he raised through the pages of The Truth Seeker. In July 1886, during his tour of New York and New Jersey, he pitched his fifty-foot-diameter round 'Liberal tent' in Boonton, New Jersey. There he would receive a hostile reception. Over three nights of lecturing, vandals damaged his tent and the local constabulary arrested him for blasphemy. At last he was rushed by a mob and forced to run for his life, his tent suffering a total loss."
