Freedom Balloon Festival - Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina

Had a great time watching all of the hot air balloons yesterday! It was my first time ever being near a hot air balloon. I have actually never really seen one in person either. They were awesome! I love this shot of a pilot getting his balloon ready! The reflective light is really pretty!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

Thanks to everyone who took the time to view, comment, and fave my photo. It’s really appreciated. 😊

This is Freedom.

Before + After

No Photoshop effects, just color correction and dust cleaning, this is the actual behind the scene setup.

“No matter how old are you, if you’re brave enough to do this, you’ll feel the true freedom” :)

*Imagine they are running with a slow motion effect with this song.

Again, maybe it’s nothing new using the dome piece as a balloon, but I have this ideas for quite a while, which are:

1. Taking an upside down build to use gravity on strings or chains.

2. Making a moving/motion blur effect (panning photography) with bricks.

And it turns out this mystery part fits for me to finally make those ideas into reality, though it turns out it really took a very long time to shot this scene to get the right lighting and angle…I guess I won’t do this kind of trick for a long time…hahahaha

It’s my 5th entry for Iron Builder competition vs. Gilcelio Chagas. The secret ingredient for this round is 2 x 2 Domes in Dark Blue.

Freedom '55

The “freedom 55” fishing boat has seen better days, it is a popular boat in Peggy's Cove to capture. It is quickly wasting away to nothing.

Not to be a copy cat, but have seen other versions of this "craft" and thought I would add my "Two bits" worth on this subject.

Peggy's Cove is a must see place when on the East Coast (IMHO)

It's set up like a deck of cards

They're sending us to early graves

For all the diamonds

They'll use a pair of clubs to beat the spades

With poetry I paint the pictures that hit

More like the murals that fit

Don't turn away

Get in front of it

Brotha, did ya forget ya name?

Did ya lose it on the wall

Playin' tic-tac-toe?

Yo, check the diagonal

Three brothers gone

Come on

Doesn't that make it three in a row?

What does the billboard say?

Come and play!, come and play!

Forget about the movement

Freedom...yea...

Freedom...yea right...

Freedom...yeeeaaahhh!

Freedom!

Yeeeaaahhh!

Freedom!

Yea right!

Freedom!

Yeeeaaahhh!

Freedom!

Yea!

Right!

Vivere una sola vita in una sola città,

in un solo paese, in un solo universo,

vivere in un solo mondo è prigione.

un solo costume, una sola civiltà,

conoscere una sola logica è prigione.

After so many hit the ground

All my mistakes, man, you already know

I wanna be free, I wanna be free

Won't stop till I find my

Well, that's it for my city-captures of historic Saint Augustine, Florida. It was our 7th consecutive year here on the 4th of July. It's always fun! I got 50 keepers. All taken in one day, and then it took me the entire month of July to post them. Hope you enjoyed them as much as I did capturing them! I still have one nice Saint Augustine sunrise to post and also a nice grouping of avian captures, also taken in Saint Augustine. And then after that I have a huge-backlog of South Florida sunsets that I still have to work on. Some really good ones! But for now it's on to August in this tense and stressful year. And if the the virus wasn't enough, we will be waking up tomorrow to a Category 2 Hurricane just off our shores! What a year! Hoping everything is good by you, where-ever in the world you might be. Thank you for looking. Best Regards from South Florida U.S.A.

Using the same exact scene that I uploaded like two days ago but... eh, what the hell. The WW2 builders do it all the time.

Mercury capsule

On May 5, 1961, Alan Shepard became the first American in space in this Mercury capsule. He named it "Freedom 7," the number signifying the seven Mercury astronauts; NASA called the mission Mercury-Redstone 3 (MR-3). Lofted by a Redstone rocket, Shepard and his capsule attained a maximum speed of 5180 mph and rose to an altitude of 116 miles. The sub-orbital flight lasted 15 minutes and 28 seconds. Freedom 7 parachuted into the sea 302 miles from the launch pad at Cape Canaveral, Florida, and was retrieved by helicopter, along with Shepard.

NASA gave "Freedom 7" to the Smithsonian in October 1961, the first human spacecraft accessioned into the National Collection. It is also the only Mercury capsule of the original type flown by an astronaut. It has small portholes instead of a window over the head of the astronaut, and the main hatch lacks explosive bolts for emergency escape.

“The freedom of birds is an insult to me.”

― Cormac McCarthy

I hate envy. It is evil and I truly thank God that I've never envied others in my life BUT I sometimes tend to envy the birds or let say wish I have their capacity to fly high and to fly freely...to swim in the air and to let its power carry me aimlessly. I believe freedom is the most precious gift man can ask God for and though it comes in many kinds and forms, the core remains the same. Still, it is always relative as long as we as we are here on earth.

This is an old photograph that I took last year when I noticed a red batman-shaped kite in the sky.

Sorry but I've been extremely busy over the last couple of days. I'll do my best to catch up.

Honestly wishing you all a very blessed holidays...

Merry Christmas to all of you in advance!

My new obsession is a sailboat. Not that I like sea that much, but I love the freedom implied. Being able to travel on a confortable boat, with no noisy neighbors or telemarketing calls. Just water all around, stopping city after city, getting supplies, living just to live. Must be an amazing sensation. And of course, sunrises in the middle of the ocean must be spetacular :-)

I uploaded this a few days ago and then deleted it from my photostream because i wasn't sure.. only to find an email saying that it had been selected as a favourite by blissedoutphotography.. which is an honour considering her stuff is wicked.
