Freedom Falls in Kennerdell, PA from Fall of 2017. When I first showed up, it was pretty overcast - perfect even lighting for waterfalls.. shortly afterwards, the sun started poking through pretty harshly. Instead of waiting for the clouds to cover the sun back up, I decided to just work with it and see if I could get any good looking contrasty shots. This one ended up being one of my favorites. I hadn't yet visited Freedom Falls due to not being able to find good directions and the fact that it is a pretty long drive from the Pittsburgh area. It turned out to be pretty easy to get there, aside from it being located on a steep, windy, unpaved road with a cliff on one side and a ditch on the other... You can park on the hill itself (there are a couple of small spots on the side of the road), or you can make your way all the way down to the bottom and park in the lot on the left. I'd recommend parking down there because you can check out the Rockland Tunnel, which is within easy walking distance. You could either hike up Shull Run from there, or drive/walk back up Rockland Station Rd.
I was able to get to it via GPS by entering the following address: 835 Rockland Station Rd Kennerdell, PA 16374. However, as long as you're taking Pittsville Rd. to Rockland Station Rd (T480) you should be fine.

Watching birds, their freedom to fly, how steady their wings hold against the storms, how they always seem to be defying gravity at eacht moment. Wondering where there draw their strenght, how they view the world, if they ever stop and just enjoy the view. But I guess wondering and enjoying is luxury reserved for humans. Wish I could just fly up to the skies to see the world from a different view, but in a weird way happy to feel the rocks beneath my feet. Always my head in the clouds, but my feet on the ground. My heart somewhere in between, never really deciding where it should be. I am a dreamer and a pessimist. Always expect the worst, but hope for the best. Do not really know how to be realistic, because I know that dreams can become reality, but so do the nightmares. Afraid of loosing, afraid of holding on to much. Never really sure of anything. So I put my faith in the only light I see, and let it wash away all these blurred thoughts.
After checking the sun orientation, sunset and low tide times, I found a place on the coast when all of these were happening together. I wanted low tide on a long flat beach, so that the sand would create lots of reflections.
Once there, I pre-broke wooden planks, nailed them accordingly on a structure, which I buried in the sand. Then I just waited for the sun, did some jumps, and here it is.
So many people around me.
The ones I love and the ones I hate.
I have the freedom.
You could do anything with your freedom.

* The usual community of cormorants can be seen here roosting on their utility cable above the lake... they no a good thing when they see it (sunset) and they don't have to pay for lodging either!
4 exposures of DRI technique. Masking and lighten mode for the jetty at opacity of 65%. Multiply and lighten mode for the sky and reflection. It took me about 60 minutes to get this final piece of mine. Some tweak in photoshop.
Located in New Freedom, Pa. Going to try to get by and see this again next month. Neat little locomotive recently manufactured by by the Kloke Locomotive Works of Elgin, Il. Fascinating little locomotive.
