Wine tasting around the world - a wine cork to represent that!

Sicherheit.

I like to have a safety pin in my handbag. She already has served me in many cases ;-)

The American Walter Hunt (1796-1859) was an imaginative mechanic and had made quite a few useful inventions, but had not been able to derive any financial benefit from it. So it came that he was again in need of money in 1849 and considered how he could earn $ 15, which he owed a friend. As he pondered, he played with a piece of wire, which he bent into a lock. So, according to legend, he invented the safety pin. What distinguished her from a conventional brooch? Her pointed end did not stick out and caused injury to the clumsy user, but was hidden in a rounded lock. The safety pin could not open in this way, nor was their tip dangerous. On April 10, 1849 Hunt patented the safety pin and immediately sold the patent to his friend for only $ 400. After deducting his debts, he still had $ 385 left ... The safety pin began its triumphal procession and was useful not only in tailoring but also in child care. Cloth diapers for babies could be closed safely and easily. For more than 100 years, safety pins have served us well here, until in the 1970s the diapers with adhesive closures prevailed ...

The Dancing Towers on the East River with the Empire State Building in the background

Dramatic masks to help display the soulful eyes - as part of the "eyes" theme for Macro Monday originally, I captured this theater mask. I’ve had this mask forever as I have been in dance (and some theater) since I was very young!

Capturing some scenes around St Finn Barres Cathedral in Cork on a pretty June day - a beautiful ethereal feel on the church grounds

Alvin likes'em a Peanut from the Buffet ever now and then, but unfortuantley for Alvin, Boo Bear, Wiley Coyotte and Red Fox frequent the Buffet every now and then as well and would like nothing better than to have a "Chipnugget" from the Buffet. Now Alvin is well aware of his dilemma due to that circumstance and before rushing down to get his Peanut from the Buffet, he scopes the area out from the safety of his front door. Once at the Buffet he orders his Peanut "ToGo" and scampers on back to his domicile for he wants to get back in time to watch his favorite show The Roadrunner and much to our joy, makes it safely back home. The End :)

RECIPE for 4-5 small containers

325 gr of fresh ginger, peeled;

grate half of the ginger, cut other half in small cubes;

Bring to a simmer in 1 liter of water and cook slowly for 1,5 hours;

Put the ginger through a sive, preserving 0,5 liters of fluid;

Put the ginger and the preserved fluid in a clean pot and let cool and rest overnight;

Add 750 gr of jelly sugar and the grated zest and juice of 1 lemon;

Bring to a boil and boil while stirring until a drop of fluid turns quickly in a jelly when put on a cold saucer. For me it took about 3 minutes;

Put the marmalade in sterilised containers and close the lid firmly;

When the marmalade is cooled down a bit turn the containers upside down to distribute the ginger cubes more evenly through the jelly
