This wild chipmunk in the mountains of Utah gave me only a few seconds to capture snack time before scurrying away.
My neighbor's dog, Kayla, the white Chihuahua, and Ali, my neighbor's sister's older mixed Australian Cattle Dog, watch me pass by their window as I walk my dog. Ali has since crossed the rainbow bridge prior to me releasing this image. She's definitely watching over her pack here on earth.
California Scrub-Jays eat mostly insects and fruit during spring and summer. They switch to nuts and seeds during fall and winter, especially acorns. They also eat small animals such as lizards and nestling birds, sometimes shadowing adult birds to find their nests. For plant material, scrub-jays eat acorns and grass seeds; sunflower seeds and peanuts at feeders; as well as cultivated corn, almonds, walnuts, and cherries.

Mangroves are the coastal defense against rising seas in many parts of the world. These ecosystems need to be healthy if they are to survive and defend the coastal communities. This image of two mangrove greens facing the approaching waves hits this theme for me.

I think this might be a small wren. I'm not sure so perhaps a bird aficionado might offer the correct identification. These are challenging birds to image. They are always moving and hiding and are very small.
