Spotted Towhee foraging under hedges for insects and seeds. Sometimes he is called San Diego Towhee and for a while even Spurred Towhee. He certainly is spotted sharply black and white with rich mahogany red sides and flanks - and such a wonderful red eye. With it all, he is a shy, brush-dwelling bird along the Arroyo. He becomes more conspicuous when he begins giving his spring trill in early February from the top of a low tree, but he drops back into the thicket as soon as he is disturbed.
After processing this image, I was drawn toward how the blurred background and lighting created a magical appearance.
In Egyptian mythology, the Ogdoad were eight primordial deities worshiped in Hermopolis. The term “Ogdoad” means “the Eightfold” in Ancient Greek and “eight” in Ancient Egyptian.
Looking straight down the barrel of my lens and ruffling up the face feathers to catch the right angle of light to show off his red face
I haven't made a diptych in a very long time. These two super quick clicks gave me the idea to make one again. The pair of images shows how, at the right angle, sunlight can reveal the shimmering iridescence of the head feathers on a male Anna's Hummingbird.
A young Filipino enjoys his lunch while tending to the his family's durian stand located in Davao City, Mindanao, The Philippines. It took me several attempts to enjoy eating durian, and I can honestly say I enjoy it now, but only in small quantities, and never, EVER consumed when drinking beer. ;-) I prefer durian in ice creme, but I can now handle the "right out of shell at the hot roadside stand" version too.
Geisha (芸者) (/ˈɡeɪʃə/; Japanese: [ɡe̞ːɕa̠]), geiko (芸子), or geigi (芸妓) are Japanese women who study the ancient tradition of art, dance and singing, and are distinctively characterized by traditional costumes and makeup. Contrary to popular belief, geishas are not the Eastern equivalent of the prostitute; a misconception originating in the West due to interactions with oiran, whose traditional dress is similar to that of geisha.
The word geisha (/ˈɡeɪʃə/; Japanese: [ɡe̞ːɕa̠]),[1][2] consists of two kanji, 芸 (Gei) meaning "art" and 者 (Sha) meaning "person" or "doer". The most literal translation of geisha into English would be "artist", "performing artist", or "artisan". Another name for geisha is Geiko (芸妓), which translates specifically as "Woman of Art." This term is used to refer to geisha from Western Japan, which includes Kyoto and Kanazawa.
Apprentice geisha are called Maiko (舞妓), literally "Woman of Dance", or Hangyoku (半玉), "Half-Jewel" (meaning that they were paid half of the wage of a full geisha),[3] or by the more generic term o-shaku (御酌), literally "one who pours (alcohol)". The white make-up and elaborate kimono and hair of a maiko is the popular image held of geisha. A woman entering the geisha community does not have to begin as a maiko, having the opportunity to begin her career as a full geisha. Either way, however, usually a year's training is involved before debuting either as a maiko or as a geisha. A woman above 21 is considered too old to be a maiko and becomes a full geisha upon her initiation into the geisha community.
On average, Tokyo apprentices (who typically begin at 18) are slightly older than their Kyoto counterparts (who usually start at 15).[4] Historically, geisha often began the earliest stages of their training at a very young age, sometimes as early as 6 years old. The early Shikomi (in-training) and Minarai (learns by watching) stages of geisha training lasted for years (shikomi) and months (minarai) respectively, which is significantly longer than in contemporary times. A girl is often a shikomi for up to a year while the modern minarai period is simply one month.
It is still said that geisha inhabit a separate world which they call the Karyūkai or "The Flower and Willow World." Before they disappeared, the courtesans were the colourful "flowers" and the geisha the "willows" because of their subtlety, strength, and grace.

As in other countries, in Indonesia there is also a medium used to communicate with the spirits of the dead. If you know a similar game called Ouija Board, it has the same rules even if the way communication is done may be somewhat different. Jailangkung name, the game is quite popular among the Javanese in the past.
In one remote room, about 3 - 5 people sit around two men holding dolls. The doll is a cross from a bamboo that is given a shirt of children. On a bamboo cross, coconut shell or coconut shell, placed so that it looks like a doll. Pencil or chalk to which to write is affixed to the bottom of the doll.
Incense began to burn and smoke began to billow and spread throughout the room with its distinctive aroma. Now there was only silence in the room and everyone seemed serious, as if they were attending a funeral. All eyes focused on the doll, which is now held by the two men to withstand the magical movements of jagoangkung dolls while writing. The group leader, who acts as a shaman, sits right in front of the doll, which they call "jailangkung." He then started mumbling a spell
"Hong Hiyang Ilaheng Hen Jagad Alusan Roh Gentayangan Ono'e Jaelangkung Jaelengsat siro Wujud'e Ning kene Ono Bolon'e Siro Wangsul Angslupo Yen Siro Teko Gaib Wenehono Tondo Ing Golek Bubrah Hayo Enggalo Teko Pangundango Hayo Ndang Angslupo Ing Rupo Golek Wujud..Wujud..Wujud"
The shaman keeps repeating his spell until the doll becomes heavier, a sign that a person's spirit is entering it. So, as soon as the two men holding the doll gave him a nod as a sign that they were being visited by a spirit, who happened to pass by. The dukun immediately asked Jailangkung, "What's your name?" After that, the spirit that entered Jailangkung moved his pencil to write his name on a piece of paper that had been provided.
Extraordinary! How could a doll with a pencil attached to it write very clearly? Now, just imagine now you are holding the doll yourself, trying to move it to write something. Difficult, is not it? that's if you do it yourself. So imagine how frustrating it is for two people who work to do such writing, because each will push and pull the doll in a different direction.
The shaman then asks another question: "Where are you from?" This second question is also answered in writing. Jailangkung writes his speech, slowly but clearly. Questions and answers continue to complete. Amazing indeed! All questions answered correctly. In fact, Jailangkung can even tell the secret of everyone present in the room.
But, this game can be very dangerous, if the players, especially shamans can not remove and restore the spirits of Jailangkung. If this happens, and his spirit gets angry, he can enter the bodies of the players one by one. And it will be very difficult to eliminate the spirit that enters the player's body.
However, the question remains: What exactly is Jailangkung? Is this true of the spirit? Or just engineering the players? Or is there any other intelligible power that can be understood? How can Jailangkung get answers to all the questions asked?
The logical explanation of Jailangkung's phenomenon and other similar games is that the game is just a mind trick or a mind-game trick. According to a scientific report published in the journal Current Directions in Psychological Science 2012, scientists prove that humans have a tendency to do things to create the conditions they expect to actually happen, a thing called "response expectancy". The response can be a push or pull done so that the pencil, in this mystical game, moves in the desired direction. However, the statement of the scientist above does not fully answer how players can answer the secrets of strangers.
Original Spell Games for Calling Jailangkung
Surely we have been familiar with the game jailangkung that can be used as a spell incentive to summon the right jelangkung to be able to present the spirits of other nations and can communicate with humans through a liaison that has been prepared. Usually this spirit game involves the jinn and the spirit of the person who has called the world for a specific communication done by a beginner.
We can not deny that even if the game is dangerous to dend jailangkung to do, but still there are many who try this bad game. Like a dot com authors dot com own partners who so much time try this one game coincided with some of his peers. Indeed he succeeded in bringing the spirits up to be invited to communicate with him.
But the intention of the game seems to have been wrong and inappropriate in the imitation, the article of the close friend asked the spirit or the spirit of jailangkung it to give the right number that is the number that is commonly bought by some buffer game tail number.
There are several types of jailangkung spells used in the spirit game, as in films that are often broadcast, so the game is indeed real and can be done in a way even though by a beginner. But for those of you who do not want to take the best chance not to try this one game, because if the spirit in the call is furious so it can lead to people around him possessed.
Indeed, in the game jailangkung no special spells that need to be read, because usually some players use their own prayer is a spell that is made for the system to call the spirits, demons, or ghosts there in the place to play with and communicate with humans.
But here is one of the spell of Java used for the game of jailangkung, the spell of Javanese version:
“Hong…(…)…ilaheng,heh jagad alusan roh gentayangan,
jaelangkung jaelengsat siro(…),ning kene ono(…), siro (…)angslupo,
yen siro teko(…) wenehono tondo,(…),
Hayo enggalo teko…hayo ndang angslupo(…).”
jailangkung is a supernatural beings who can communicate with humans and will always answer each question submitted by way of writing it into one note tool as media. Nothing convincing the depiction of the jailangkung, because each of these games in the title of being a fine creature be it a genie or a ghost are invited to have a share of the game.
