After false kiva we went to Arches for some more light painting around 3 am, I almost threw in the towel at this point for the comfort of the sleeping bag. I mustered up the last bit of energy I had though and am very happy I did!
The small bright light you see in the lower left is me and my flashlight. I left that in to give a sense of scale of this giant arch, mindblowing to see in person.

Free School founded by Peter Hill and Robert Bell in 1613. Living to the age of 80, Peter Hill gave £3 a year for the education of the sons of seafaring men. The Charity School was instituted 1742-1797 and supported by charitable donations. The bluecoat figures mark a charity school and can be found in various locations over London including St. Andrew at Holborn.

My Free Moving Curtis (that I got for a song MOC several years ago!) has finally got a girlfriend, the gorgeous Free Moving Cara. This gal was NRFB (and a lot more expensive, unfortunately) but I think she is beautiful. I have a history with Cara, as she was the only AA doll that I ever saw back in the 70’s in Melbourne, Australia…. It was the first issue Quick Curl Cara, with that multicoloured print outfit. I can still see her on that Peg-boarded shelf in that dusty little ‘Mom & Pop’ toy store in Footscray around 1978 or 1979 and I almost bought her, but I finally decided on a Pretty Changes Barbie or a Ballerina Barbie instead. There was only one Cara left, and when I went back to get her after I had saved up some more pocket money, she was sadly gone. (She must have been old store stock, as there were lots of older dolls on sale there, which is one of the reasons it was one of my favourite toy stores! I was allowed to go there on occasional Friday nights once I saved up all my money from doing chores… then the whole family would go eat Italian - Footscray was like a little Italy back then with many great old-school Italian restaurants - or my favourite fish and chips from one of those wonderful nearby Greek places. I looked forward to those Friday nights for weeks!) I still haven’t gotten that Quick Curl Cara… maybe one day! This Free Mover’s hair texture was a surprise… very curly straight out of the box, which is completely different to Barbie’s long, silky locks, but it looks so seventies. Here she is in her tennis outfit and that long floral skirt for going out dancing in (The wedge heels are vintage Mattel, but I think they go well with this look,) but since I actually got her several months ago, she and Curtis have already changed into some very bright and colourful 70’s outfits. Can you guess which? Pics to come soon…

The Hawk, located on Cape Sable Island, is located on the most southerly tip of Nova Scotia. The Hawk is named after a schooner that was washed ashore there in the 1800s.
The beach is part of the Cape Sable Important Bird Area, making it one of the best birding areas in Nova Scotia.
From the beach you can view the Cape Sable Lighthouse, the tallest lighthouse in Nova Scotia, standing at 101 feet tall.

it was late in the day for this shot; the model had to keep still for my 1/2s exposure. It was almost dark when i took the shot.

I always wanted a boyfriend for Free Moving P.J. as after all, Cara has Curtis and of course, Barbie has Ken. I was envisioning like a Mod era update of vintage era Ken’s best friend Allan, so meet FREE MOVING JUSTIN!!!! I was thrilled to find this rather good unidentified Ken clone with red hair! (I tried researching him but have found no info on him as yet. I think those are his original breeches and black jackboots in the last pic, so possibly, he was some GI Joe-type soldier action figure? He only has a generic Hong Kong marking across his back. If anyone has any info on him, I’d be really grateful.) His head and arm moldings are actually really great for a clone, but he is really bizarrely constructed. He has the usual clone-ish hollow plastic torso (and a twist waist to boot, so even though he doesn’t have that tab in his back like the other Free Movers, he can at least twist his waist with them!) but he has really soft rubbery arms that are clearly pirated from Mod era Ken's molds, a soft vinyl head that is also identical to Ken’s sculpt but - quite oddly- exposed joints at the knees and ankles with little silver screws in the joints! His eyes were weird... bright blue with red rims around them, like he had been up all night on some drug-fuelled binge!- and he had Maddie Mod’s crazy, stare-y eyes, so I repainted them a hazel brown to go with his red hair and with Free Moving P.J.'s eyes, and they look wonderful now! I named him Justin after my best friend in high school who had bright red hair like him!
