Two members of a Konstanz Fraternity pose for a picture wearing their traditional atilla-style uniform, altong with a cap and ribbon on club-colors. They certainly went to school at the Hochschule für Technik und Gestaltung in Konstanz. It is likely that they are from Alania, see comments. We can also clearly make out their zirkel on the back of the card.
The text mentions xxx, a 'rank' in the Praesidium, "Schriftwart", the scriptor. The text also mentions that the picture was taken 14 days after the 'Mensur', which involved fencing.

Islington window-cleaner
Photogravure by Donald Macleish from Wonderful London by St John Adcock, 1927.
London has many things that make it individual. One is the sash-window, as opposed to the hinged type more common on the Continent. But these sash windows are difficult to clean, hence the acrobatic fraternity of window-cleaners.

Five older Victorian-era women, sitting on a bench wearing nightgowns and nightcaps.
I have no idea what's going on in this picture. Could it be from a sanitorium, hospital, or a poor house? A gaggle of Old Maids? Mormon wives? Mail order brides? Is this a Victorian cheesecake photo? Victorian Fight Club? Whatever this is, they don't seem to be completely happy about it.
They look pretty masculine, but back then, older women did tend to take on that look. I guess it could possibly be men dressed as women. Maybe it was some type of fraternity prank. Personally, I don't think so. Their hands look too feminine, and something about them just feels female to me.
I ran into my friend Sam last night, he came out for the evening in his 1984 BMW (the one on the right), and met two fellow BMW owners and had a great chat with them...

These scans come from my rather large magazine collection. Instead of filling my house with old moldy magazines, I scanned them (in most cases, photographed them) and filled a storage area with moldy magazines. Now they reside on an external harddrive. I thought others might appreciate these tidbits of forgotten history.
Please feel free to leave any comments or thoughts or impressions... They are happily appreciated!
In the late 1960's and early 1970's, I attended the University of Oklahoma (OU). I pledged Acacia fraternity.
This is a picture of Judy and me at the fraternity's annual "Night on the Nile" party. We're posing with one of the decorations.

Top Italian architect Massimiliano Fuksas designed the massive shopping mecca, named ‘My Zeil’, located in the heart of the shopping strip in Frankfurt city. There are around 100 different stores within the structure, including an exclusive fitness club, a playground for children, plus several restaurants and cafes...

Social Groups like fraternities and sororities provide groups with different perspectives on issues where media effects can often be translated and left to the members of the groups to receive this information and pass it on to others in other social groups.

It's been twenty years since I graduated. Except for a few new buildings, the CMU campus in Oakland looks pretty much the same...
