One of two buildings in the ghost town of Elkhorn that comprise the smallest state park in Montana. The structure was built in 1893 by fraternal organizations that were active in the town which was thriving as a result of mining in the area. Current population of Elkhorn is around 10.

Happy Friday: Color My World Day-Blue!

Dubai Marina, Dubai

The marina clearly doesn’t cater for the superyacht fraternity… they must be moored elsewhere in Dubai. So, these modest little boats (probably still cost more than most of our homes back in the UK) must be used as tenders to reach them.

Still, the marina complex looks stunning at night-time and well worth a late-night walkabout.

"To the great tree-loving fraternity we belong. We love trees with universal and unfeigned love, and all things that do grow under them or around them — the whole leaf and root tribe."

- Henry Ward Beecher

A dedication to the abused Ukrainian People, whose freedom has been trampled on and denied... whose wings have been clipped... In the hope that this Country will soon rise again and be spared from further violence.

I'm still few days impossibilitated to stay connected for long at the Net, but I want to donate to the CC this further digital design of mine in tribute to Ukraine illustrating a pair of wings that I mainly designed manually, maintaining a certain asymmetry in order to not have a mirrored effect from a wing to the other.

Please, should you reshare, post, publish this and or my other tributes to Ukraine that I have freely licenced as CC share-a-like for non-commercial use, recognize my authorship adding a link to my Flickr profile and my credits as ©White Angel.

I'd be grateful if you let me know with a short comment below my posts linking me to where you have published, shared or reposted my image. Or if you just have enjoyed it, and/or downloaded and saved my work, it will make me happy to be acknowledged. Thanks.

Through all the Pain and Confusion, there is a Light of Peace.First WE must start within ourselves to Project outwards onto the World...

Fraternity dudes show their support during the first annual Pink Out Night at the Southern Illinois University women's basketball game. Nearly 4,000 were in attendance to join the fight against breast cancer, honor survivors, and remember those who have succomed to the battle. Salukis beat the Evansville Purple Aces 63-60 and clinched their first Missouri Valley Conference Championship since 1990. I totally want an autographed #11 Jayme Sweere jersey. Go Dawgs! Find A Cure!

Delta Kappa Epsilon

Delta Kappa Epsilon (ΔΚΕ; also pronounced D-K-E or "Deke") is one of the oldest North American fraternities with 54 active chapters across the United States and Canada. The fraternity was founded at Yale College in 1844 by 15 sophomores that were disaffected by the existing houses on campus. They established a fellowship "where the candidate most favored was he who combined in the most equal proportions the gentleman, the scholar, and the jolly good fellow."

Psi Upsilon (ΨΥ, Psi U) is the fifth oldest college fraternity in the United States, founded at Union College on November 24, 1833. It has chapters at colleges and universities throughout North America.

After WW II, my dad went to the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, NE, for one year before moving to Texas.

He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

The photo was taken in 1946. My dad is third from the right in the front row.

Left to right are Elisha P. Greene, James Butler "Wild Bill" Hickok, William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody, Texas Jack Omohundro and Eugene Overton. I scanned this from an old postcard from the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody, WY but as I looked at it, I realized the postcard image was reversed so it is corrected here. My first clue was that the card's listed order showed Wild Bill Hickok in the wrong spot and then I noticed that their muzzle loading rifles had their hammers on the wrong side (they should be on the rifle's right side). I guess that watching all those Sherlock Holmes movies has paid off.

The Great Saint Martin Church is a Romanesque Catholic church in Cologne, Germany. Its foundations (circa 960 AD) rest on remnants of a Roman chapel, built on what was then an island in the Rhine. The church was later transformed into a Benedictine monastery. The current buildings, including a soaring crossing tower that is a landmark of Cologne's Old Town, were erected between 1150-1250. The architecture of its eastern end forms a triconch or trefoil plan, consisting of three apses around the crossing, similar to that at St. Maria im Kapitol. The church was badly damaged in World War II, with restoration work completed in 1985.

As of 2009 Great Saint Martin is being used by a branch of the Monastic Fraternities of Jerusalem and is open for visits again.
