Mother's Day

In honor of Mary, mother of Jesus, and Hermine, my mom.

Spiranthes odorata. This is the largest of our native ladies' tresses. It spreads by its roots and can form clonal colonies. It is widespread throughout Florida. It typically grows in floodplains and tolerates inundation. The bees and the butterflies were enjoying these flowers.

Fragrant Candle Bonbonerie

Hosta 'Fragrant Blue' has surprised me by its gorgeous leaves and crisp outline. I thought blues would not take to my climate--must be the plantagenea family traits coming out?

Long ago, Naaman the Syrian went to Elisha the prophet seeking a cure for his leprosy. He was told to simply dip himself into the Jordon river 7 times and he would be well. He was offended. There were much better rivers in Damascus than that muddy little stream. But reluctently he did what he was told to do and came back cured. Trusting in Jesus is a bit like that. It seems so simple that it offends many - but in reality there is nothing simple about it. Being enabled to be be part of God's family was won for us at great cost. And it was a cost paid for every one, as God has an intense love for every person, but so many reject the offer.
