A fellow photo manipulating friend, Ruby Strange (see my tag by that name if you'd like to see works I have done of her), requested mirror photos for her latest series, and being the self portrait junky I am, I was happy to oblige! I found it to be quite a challenge. I sent her 44 photos & made it hard for the poor thing to choose, but when I do a photoshoot, I am a perfectionist & I just can't help myself! Of course I had every intention of having some fun with them myself. I had that pink glass heart box that I believe I got at at dollar store just sitting in my room, & thought I might be able to use it for something, so it gave me this idea that I've had for a while. This is gonna be the next title picture for a magazine about safty and the paradoxon of the safty-paranoia.

If you've ever wondered how strictly a "fragile" sticker on a package you send through any of the parcel services is adhered to, this photo should give you a good indication.
This is for Morris, one of a collection in a set of images under the heading titled "The Fragility of Nature". All of the images were taken in the rainforest and focus on the natural cycle of decay. There is a wonderful art form created by nature, particularly seen through the medium of macro and close-up photography. Might post a couple more if there is interest.

I walked into my kitchen to carve meat off a turkey and noticed there were no birds at my feeder. That either means there is a cat nearby or that a sharp-shinned hawk has frightened the birds away. Turns out after a short search I saw the hawk on the ground eating a bird. I had a 400mm lens on my camera. Since the bird was only 12 feet away I couldn't get the entire bird in the first few photos. I changed to a 70-200mm lens and took a few shots until the hawk flew to a planter about 18 feet from me. I took a few shots at 200mm and then changed back to the 400mm. What is remarkable is that I have never been able to snap more than 2 or 3 photos in the past, but this sharp-shinned allowed me to take many photos and even gave me time to change lenses twice. It looked right at me many times but did not fly.
This is one of the first photos I took with the 400mm lens. The hawk was about 12 feet from me. IMG_0997
