Couldn't think of what to name this for awhile; then it just came to me
Fragile, because of the hearts appearance, the paints coming off, therefore making it look damaged.
Heart, that's pretty obvious.
Background texture is ice from my backyard.
Fragile signs of spring.

Spring, the season when most birds lay their eggs. Symbolic of spring, the sign of new life. These are for decoration, the bowls are obtained from the food industry, so not collected from the land from the nests of the breeding birds.

We, humans, are fragile beings. We are easily overwhelmed by strong emotions of anger, anxiety, depression and so on, and exit out of it seems too narrow. The fragility is often expressed in forms of violence. Such act only leaves scratches, dirts and dusts in, on, and around ourselves.
I thought I'd do something a little different today - was about to chuck this spotlight bulb away (got the wrong one and was too lazy to exchange it in the shop)...yh I know , real lazy - and thought about getting an interesting shot of it instead!
Thought the intact bulb was a little boring, so tried breaking it a little. Tried doing that using the end of a corkscrew - repeatedly hitting it, but man, these bulbs are crazy tough to break!!! Either that or I'm a wimp!! :D...Gave up with that idea and smashed it against a empty beer bottle - yeah, real manly!!! :D
Anyway, it made me think about how many things in life are fragile...perhaps, we think we ourselves are fragile...but you know, deep down there's always some strength remaining. Sometimes, it's way more than we could have imagined!...It takes a lot to completely break us.
...Keep believing in your own strength.

It is a tragedy that has befallen this mighty building.
The Notre Dame captured my heart the very moment I saw pictures of it while looking at the Paris guidebooks. And when I visited this impressive piece of history 10 years ago, I couldn't contain my excitement.
Even from afar, the Notre Dame Cathedral is an imposing structure: two tall towers rising 70m above the mass of low-rise buildings that dominate the center of Paris, behind which the lie the cross of the 73m long nave and 46m wide transept, each rising 4 stories, and supported by the massive bulwarks of the flying buttresses. Even the spindly spire that collapsed was large from up-close.
It took 100 years to build, and it stood through 800 years of tumultuous history, through both the World Wars. And yet, even such a mighty structure can be fragile. I do hope they rebuild it to its former glory.

The St. Paddy's Day snow is almost gone. Unfortunately the Daffodils were already up and are now bent over by the snow. By Sunday many of these fragile blooms will start to come back to life in the sunny mild 70 degree spring weather only to potentially be crushed under another snow storm on Tuesday. I wonder how the Cherry Blossoms in DC are fairing this year.

Today should've been day 100, but that clearly didn't happen. I will catch up though. I've had such a busy week what with getting over jet lag, catching up on university, working and editing two lots of client photos tonight - but now it's all done, I'm mostly over my cold and hopefully I can relax and shoot some more this weekend! I've had this idea for such a long time now, and I glued together this card house specifically for this shoot perhaps two months ago. I'm glad I finally got to shoot it today, even if I couldn't light the cards on fire as I'd hoped to as it was too windy. This is an extension of my childhood series, hopefully it gets the message across.
As always with the photos in this series, I really would love opinions on the emotion, what you think it portrays, anything you like! :)

I love taking photos of old, beat up and forgotten things. This photo was taken in Jamestown, NY at an old Lumber factory on Harrison St. near the Cycle Shop.
The tempered strength of a fragile beauty is a rare thing to see.
Strength that is tempered loses some of the luster that sets true beauty free.
But beauty remains as it struggles and strains for a lasting legacy.
For beauty, though fragile, is not weak as some believe it to be,
It is the power, the spark, the flame of delight that burns for eternity.
Chinese culture often making women submit and save face, but this face is one that clearly expresses the beauty of life and the purity of each breath we are all given
There is (much) joy in discovering something or someone really good.
It's not that they were hiding of course...but they're just new to you.
This is a portrait of Rokia Traoré in concert at The Usher Hall in Edinburgh earlier this evening.
In my case, I "discovered" her while attending/photographing the WOMAD Festival last year.
When you hear her speak...her voice seems really fragile...very delicate...but when she sings...oh...what a voice!
Rokia is just superb...and very expressive (always a boon for photographers).
The first two songs (of the three I could shoot for) were lit at very low levels...but it perked up a bit for the third song...this was taken at a comfortable (?) ISO 6400...and was actually the last shot I took this evening.
Oh...and I've applied NO noise reduction to this shot...the Canon 5D Mark II is great in low light conditions. J'ai eu le courage de ne rien faire! :-)
