Digging in a folder of older images not posted before, I found this long exposure of the More London area and the Shard, taken from the edge of Tower Bridge with my first DSLR, the Canon 550D.
I like the blues here and the glowing silver reflections in the Thames ...
The above image was created from a negative. These are the last of my current stock of found photos, sourced before anything came up about my dad last summer. There was no effort to find any with writing. I just wanted to preserve the images.
I won't be putting this in the Fount Photos WITH Writing group since it doesn't fit the rules (no writing). :)
The new book I am listening to is "Don't Touch Me" by Howie Mandel. I love autobiographies and have the utmost respect for people who share the deepest parts of themselves with others. Howie talks about his struggles with OCD & ADHD and what led him to comedy. I am not very far into the book yet but so far it is interesting. It feels paralyzing to me to share the intimate details of my life with others and lately I haven't been writing my captions like I used to because I realized that there are some people who actually read them. For some reason I am more self conscious when friends and acquaintances comment than when online contacts do.
PS - I found myself crawling around on the ground using the light streaming through the slats in my fence to shoot this today.
I found this shot on the same roll of film as the one of my friend. I usually remember something about a shot, but not in this case. About all I can say is that it was from Charlotte, NC, 1972 or 73. This was back when if you were wandering around with a camera, kids would often say "take my picture, take my picture." I'm glad I did, even if it has taken 40 plus years to see the light of day.
Maybe I have too many

It appears that Chestnut-backed Chickadees have found a place that they like, and their moving in. The apple tree will make a nice home for them at the Englishman River Estuary, in Parksville, BC Canada.
and it's peace that I called for. and it's you that I long for. and it's days like this that never want to end, without me squeezing out your name. must I be so sure, of a world so small?

This is the home we found in Upstate, NY. We looked for over a year for a place before settling on this one. I love living in the country now, it's so much quieter!

Now, for the 3rd year running, we have another 3 young House Martins developing fast. These are the 3 egg shells found in the garden, 2 on the 29th May with an interesting fine pattern inside, (showing through the light) and the last one found 2 days later on 31st May with no patterning inside?
The shells are incredibly delicate and only the size of a small fingernail. Alas, since this photograph was taken, the birds have not visited again since 2020.

Lost and Found
Artwork Title:
Lost and Found
Artist Name:
Jaffa Lam (Hong Kong)
Artwork Location:
Hung Hom
Artist's Concept:
“Lost and Found” is a multiple-part work that weaves through an imaginative journey at Hung Hom Station.
At the platform, a series of ossified luggage, in a variety of styles commonly used in different eras, stand as a timeline at the historical terminal for cross-border transit. Moving on, passengers run into maze-like patterns flanking the escalators. The images are in fact the archetypal nylon canvas bags. What can possibly be found in these bags and cases? What have they lost?
Next to seating, lost properties, cast in recycled aluminium from scrap ships and vehicles, await to be found at the station: a crumpled handkerchief, an empty bottle, a tattered cap… look forward to a reunion with an armless watch and a lost shoe of a child.
“Let memory stay, and don’t get lost—here and now,” says the artist.
It's the time of year for tribute / imitation shots in a couple of my groups and this is one for the assignment in Studio 26. Original by Cindy, see in the comments.

Found this log washed up on the Beach with the vibrant red markings on it, didn't know if it was paint or some kind of reaction between the wood and the salt water....any ideas?
Found on FM717 about 10 miles north of Caddo, near Ivan, TX, here's a group of longhorn cattle, calves and their "guard" donkeys. Donkeys (large, not miniature), are commonly used as guard animals, protecting vulnerable livestock from predation by coyotes, and especially packs of dogs. Any predators threatening animals being guarded are at risk of being run off by the donkeys, or... savagely mauled or trampled. The donkeys get along well with animals under their protection, but show no mercy toward dangerous animals invading their space.
We were out for the day driving around on back roads when we encountered these cattle and their calves. We had stopped to take photos from the side of the road and were struck by how unruffled these things were despite our presence. I decided to walk off the road to the wire fence and get some closer images with my wide anamorphic lens, when four donkeys appeared almost as if by magic. Although you see three right away, viewing the image large reveals that the center donkey has four ears, because there's another standing directly behind the one in front. We didn't see where they were hiding, but they certainly saw us and moved into the bunch of cattle when we had been at the fence for a few minutes. After watching us closely for about ten minutes they lost interest and walked away. The cattle stayed.
Taken with a Nikon D610, a Tokina AT-X 90mm f/2.5 macro lens fitted with a Kowa 2x (Bell & Howell) anamorphic lens.

Have a great day!
He just found the stash of nuts and seeds that I put in a hole in the maple tree. He looks quite pleased with himself.
Marie found me at the Ventura County fair about 4 years ago when I entered and won some prizes. She saw my name on there and contacted me on Myspace. Said she loved my work, and said if she ever got married… I’d be the one. Cool. Fast forward a few years, she meets Mike at work… cute couple… then the Facebook relationship status change… a few minutes later… I get a message. I love it when people remember me. We rescheduled our engagement shoot many times due to many reasons. And this Sunday almost didn’t happen because its been SO hot out. Did it anyway, and we were blessed with an amazing sunset. They’re a gorgeous, spunky couple and I know their wedding next year on a yacht in Orange County will be just as amazing.
And so on to Hartlepool, a visit which in no way went to plan, and left me needing to do a return visit at some point ....
I must have spotted the council bus depot as I was arriving, as I found myself there very quickly. Various buses were parked on the road outside, and this one stuck out more than the others - literally ! I rarely took rear-end shots (these being the days of expensive film, so off-beat ones like this were a rarity), but this was unlike anything that I had seen before. It is East Lancs, though ....
They bodied 8 single-deck Dominators in all, a single-door pair for Barrow and 6 of these for Hartlepool. I suppose it is hard to know what to do when you have the engine sticking out the back like that, and no upper deck to create a vertical line. Anyway they were unique to this operator, for the 10-12 years that they stayed on the road. All were scrapped by 1991 though.

assuming these were shot in Italy but not quite sure.
