Chert in the Permian of Wyoming, USA.
Chert is a cryptocrystalline, quartzose sedimentary rock. It can occur as bedded chert or as nodules or nodule horizons. Chert can also partially replace rocks - often limestone.
Stratigraphy: Rex Chert Member, Phosphoria Formation, Roadian Stage to Wordian Stage, lower Guadalupian Series, mid-Permian
Locality: roadcut along the western side of Forest Service Road 102 (= Diamond Creek Road), western side of Deer Creek Valley, between Dry Ridge & Freeman Ridge, Preuss Range, far-southeastern Idaho, USA
Alaska (Set 12 of 20): Denali National Park. After our return from our first full-day shuttle to/from Eielson Visitor Center we drove back to Savage River Stop to explore local trail. Threats of rain evaporated, and clouds complemented our experience.
I checked out the Russell W. Peterson Wildlife Refuge today. I had to get out on this nice day ,especially since I have been down with flu the last week. It is a interesting place not any wildlife though.It just opened last month so maybe in time.
At the sea eagle safari the personal at M/S Orca were feeding the seagulls first to wake up the interest at the sea eagles...
