Sometimes I take photos close to the ground for the effect... other times, like this one, it's because I forgot my tripod! I used my sweatshirt instead to set my camera on.
This owl flew to get away from me but, surprisingly, looped back and flew right back towards the utility pole near where I was standing. Thus, it apparently forgot what it was doing. It flew right at me until it got very close, realized its error and pealed off, giving me in-close side shots too. I wish that this kind of behaviour were more common.

Almost forgot about this shot from a year ago, but the upcoming vacation turned out to be a reminder. I didn’t put this one in the small album of this beautiful place, because I knew this was going to be a black and white and the aspect ratio also didn’t fit in. But I found this to be one of the stronger compositions and I do like to share it now!

Somebody forgot to tell this neat little black-and-white warbler that it's supposed to behave like a nuthatch and not perch like a normal songbird. After spending the summer up in the boreal forests of far-northern Minnesota or southern Canada, it's heading to Central America where a shade-coffee plantation could be its winter home.

Middle Black Clough.
Forgot to screenshot the OS walking route as usual in case my phone had no signal. Schoolboy error. All I remember is something about having to cross over a stream where there is a fork. Which I did, only at the wrong fork!
Once I was at the top of what my phone cheerily told me was White Stones, and got a signal did I realise I had to do a fair bit of retracing. This was the same point I realised that Far, Middle and Near Black Clough were completely separate from each other. I'd presumed they were all part of the same stream!
Back on the correct path I'd heard and read about how the rocks up to Middle Black Clough were quite hard to negotiate especially if they are wet. Fortunately they were dry and not difficult at all, but can easily see how dodgy they could be.
Spent an hour or so at the falls. Not much litter around which was pleasing to see but I did have to get my feet wet to remove a pair of ladies sandals that had been left right at the base of the falls. The mind boggles.
found out about July's ABC Soup from CLearly Novice (i mean . carrie .). how fun! a day late starting.. will have to catch up with "a".
and yes, there is not a single spot in focus here.. was super unmotivated.. wandered the yard today. (wandering makes our yard sound huge.. it is actually the size of a shoe box). was foggy (sf summer) and windy on top of it.. soooo .. here ya go.. blurry and blue.
oh.. and most definitely looks good on black
