Unrebuilt and unrestored 1949 CC&F PCC streetcar.

Used my 100-400 L with the Kenko ext tubes much better this way as the working distances allow for not alerting the subject...

Very tiny flowers, easily been overlook if not paying attention.

Never forget to listen to what you really want and need! It's important to look after yourself!

These forget me nots were all over a bank near Grings Mill Park. They were a lovely sight, but so near the road that they were dangerous to get to especially in sandals without socks!!

Oh, by the way, this is NOT an example of my work.

Forget-me-not

The Christ Child was sitting on Mary's lap one day and said that he wished that future generations could see her eyes. He touched her eyes and then waved his hand over the ground and blue forget-me-nots appeared, hence the name forget-me-not.

Henry IV adopted the flower as his symbol during his exile in 1398, and retained the symbol upon his return to England the following year.

In a German legend, God named all the plants when a tiny unnamed one cried out, "Forget-me-not, O Lord!" God replied, "That shall be your name."

In 15th-century Germany, it was supposed that the wearers of the flower would not be forgotten by their lovers.

Forget-me-nots may be annual or perennial plants. Most have small (1 cm diameter or less) flat, 5-lobed blue, pink or white flowers with yellow centers, growing on scorpioid cymes. They bloom in spring. Leaves are alternate. Popular in gardens.

Family: Boraginaceae; Subfamily: Boraginoideae; Genus: Myosotis; Species: about 50

City Barrie Mayor, Jeff Lehman, Barrie MP Patrick Brown, and Barrie MPP Rod Jackson.

BARRIE – Thousands of people turned out to Memorial Square in downtown Barrie today to remember Canada's veterans. Barrie Mayor Jeff Lehman tweeted: " Absolutely beautiful day in Downtown Barrie for Remembrance Day ceremony at the cenotaph in #barrie. Lest we forget. "

REMEMBRANCE DAY

Mr. Patrick Brown (Barrie, CPC):

Mr. Speaker, on November 11 we remember the generations of Canada's most courageous who have answered the call of duty and served our country.

From World War I to our work in Kandahar and around the globe today, the constant has always been the valour, the courage and the sacrifice of our brave men and women in uniform.

It is our duty to remember. That is why on Remembrance Day in communities like Barrie, throughout Canada, hundreds of families will stand before their cenotaph, like the one in Memorial Square in Simcoe County, to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

At this time I would like to pay respect to Pastor Jay Davis at Mapleview Church for his annual Remembrance Day service, Reverend Michael Cassidy, who conducts a moving service at Whispering Pines seniors residence, and of course our veterans organizations that lead Remembrance Day events on November 11.

I thank Jim Strang, president of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 147; Neil McKinnon, president of the Army Navy Air Force Club; Bill Wuerch, sergeant-at-arms; the Auxiliary Corps ladies led by the lovely Rosemary Ashton; and our honorary colonel of Base Borden, Jamie Massie, who all play a big role in honouring our veterans in Barrie.

In the Community: Remembrance Day Statement

November 10, 2013

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

-Laurence Binyon, September 1914

MPP Rod Jackson: ”Lest we forget”

November 10, 2013

Barrie- Each year on November 11th we are given the solemn opportunity to pay our respects to the courageous men and women in uniform who have served our country, and who have died on our behalf.

Remembrance Day is a day to remember their bravery, service and conviction. It is a day to honour the sacrifice of all those who have fought for the freedom of millions of people around the world, and right here at home.

This is a day to recognize their sacrifices, and to express our deepest gratitude for their service which has helped to earn us the peace, prosperity, and liberty we enjoy in Canada.

This is also a day to take pride in our country’s military, and to thank those who today courageously wear the uniform of Canada’s Armed Forces for continuing this nation’s proud tradition of selfless commitment, excellence, and service that our veterans have demonstrated.

This Remembrance Day, all Barrie residents can help ensure that the brave soldiers, sailors, and air men and women who gave their lives in service of Canada and our values are never forgotten. In Barrie, the annual Remembrance Day ceremony will be held at Memorial Square, on Dunlop Street. Form up for parade is at 10:15 a.m. on Dunlop Street, east of Memorial Square. Parade starts at 10:30 a.m. and the service at the cenotaph starts at 10:45 a.m.

Wherever you may be at 11 am on November 11th, please take a moment to bow your head and pay respect to our veterans. May we never forget.

Rod Jackson, MPP

Forget Paris is a band from Naugatuck that I have known about for a few years now. We have been talking about working together for a while and finally got a chance to do a shoot today. We toughed out the 19 degree weather and wind that literally took your breath away to get some cool snowy shots. This is my favorite of the group shots.

I got to use my new 24mm 2.8 and I'm beyond happy with how sharp it is. Such a difference.

The guys let me listen to the new album the are putting out in March and I was really impressed with their new stuff. Bummed they are making us wait three months but it will be worth it. :)

Check them out here!

Hi, I forget say hello and my before post.

The fine view from the west side banking at Bradshaw Cricket Club's ground, The Rigbys. Bradshaw Brook flows beyond the fence. Premier League Prestwich (navy strip) are batting during the closing stages of a six-wicket victory over Premier League Two Denton West in the Greater Manchester League's Derek Kay Cup final.

As many expected, Prestwich proved too strong for underdogs Denton West, whose total never looked like being big enough.

From 33-2, Akbar ur Rehman (77) and Aaqib Uppal (48) put on 113 for the third Denton West wicket. Both went in quick succession, however, as the second tier side were pegged back to 181-7. In at No 8, John Barnett (27) contributed useful runs down the order. Dan Pawson took 2-28, Shivan Chauhan 2-31 and Ryan Stanbury 2-32. Chauhan struck twice in one over, removing Rehman and Uppal, to derail Denton West's recovery.

Denton West's fielding was nowhere near as tight as Prestwich's had been. Crucially, catches were spilled at 55-0 (two fielders leaving a high ball to each other) and at 58-0 (a sharp chance put down at first slip). James Wharmby (53) and Martin Walters (50) capitalised to add 99 for the first Prestwich wicket. Wharmby's half-century required 43 balls. No 4 Chauhan's sparkling 72 not out, off 33 balls, steered Prestwich home in exciting style. His explosive innings featured 12 fours and two sixes. Pawson chipped in with 37. Liam Kilburn finished with 2-43.

Match statistics

Greater Manchester Cricket League, Derek Kay Cup, final @ Bradshaw Cricket Club (45 overs, 1pm start)

Admission: free. Programme: £1 (four pages). Attendance: 375. Denton West won the toss and elected to bat. Denton West 219 off 45 overs (Akbar ur Rehman 77, Aaqib Uppal 48, Dan Pawson 2-28) lost by six wickets to Prestwich 225-4 off 31.2 overs (Shivan Chauhan 72 not out, James Wharmby 53, Martin Walters 50, Dan Pawson 37, Liam Kilburn 2-43).

Whilst the following message is written on the reverse, from research shared by a military historian, there is no report of an 18 pounder gun ever being installed on Gun Ridge (known as Third Ridge) and as the wording "Gun Ridge" appears to have been written on the photo at a different time to the "Anzac 1915" wording, the locality of where this photograph was actually taken is not known.

Written on reverse: "This is a photo of one of our 18 pounder guns on Gun Ridge at Anzac. It was taken during one of the snow storms we had there. Every time we went into the trenches from our bivouac we had to pass in front of this. One morning as we were going up one of the chaps took this."

A forgettable B movie - However: In bit parts you will find a couple of future Super stars: Judy Garland and Betty Grable.Fans of Grable and Garland may want to suffer through it. There are other interesting characters in the cast, especially Patsy Kelly and Jack Haley. (The two stars, pictured above, are not among the one I consider ''interesting characters'' - however they are somewhat decorative.
