It is snowing outside right now, but it is to dark to take pictures. We are suppose to get three inches of snow today and snow is forecast every other day this week. I am getting my wish but I don't want to shovel.

Weather this week ended up being a Solar Sub Storm. I used "My Aurora Forecast" app to decide to get my camera ready. This image was taken in my backyard with neighbors house in the foreground. I wanted to keep the viewers attention on the aurora so I shut down exterior and many of the interior lights of my house to maintain a more natural and moody image. I do not prefer night images of milky way, or aurora where the foreground looks too bright as it kinda kills the mood. Processing in ACR in color channels to adjust hue and saturation of reds. ISO 2500 - F2.8 - .60s - 26mm
A stormy sunset over San Jose, CA this evening. This was under a dying thunderstorm actually. Thunder & lightning was observed just earlier... Surely, the Bay Area got some interesting weather this day. Hail, thunder & lightning were all witnessed in one day... This day in summary: I was doing a bit of last-minute storm chasing & a crazy hailstorm was seen along I-680 around Fremont. Then back at home, a crazy hail-producing t-storm was seen along with a decent amount of lightning & thunder. I viewed the storm from the parking lot areas of the Eastridge Mall… All this wild, crazy rare weather was thanks to a low pressure area spinning just offshore, helping to usher in t-storm activity in the region this day... *Weather scenario/forecast:
A cold low pressure area was slowly inching southeast, parallel to the California coast this day. This system had delivered a wild mix of volatile weather including copious hail, thunder & lightning. Even here in San Jose, t-storms have brought bursts of hail, downpours, thunder, lightning & low-elevation snow. The unstable air mass from this low along with afternoon daytime heating from the decently high-angled sun have sparked storm cells around the Bay Area, especially the South Bay. Even an isolated area around South San Jose saw so much hail it looked like snowfall! This low pressure area was to continue in a southeast course and finally head east out of the state. Looking ahead, by Tuesday, a weak low pressure trough was to brush the area with light showers. Then, we would finally see an extended period of dry weather starting Wednesday as a high pressure ridge was to be along the coast. Look for sunny skies & slightly above normal temps as we inch ever-so closer to spring...
