Mit dem gleichen V8-Motor erschien zusätzlich der Lkw Ford Modell V8-51.

With the same V8 engine, the Ford model V8-51 truck also appeared.

Happy Truck Thursday!

The Ford V 3000 and Ford B 3000 were series of 3-ton class trucks built by the German Ford-Werke AG at Cologne-Niehl during the Second World War. At the start of the war, the B3000 and V3000 were part of the standardized German military trucks, with the Magirus S 3000, Mercedes L 4500 S and Opel 3Tons (the legendary Blitz). The name derived from the payload's total weight, in Kgs. It derived from the Ford G 987 T (4-cylinder) or 3t model 1939 by its new streamlined bonnet and from the US model by its unitary windshield. About 25,000 were manufactured until 1945 and the serie went on postwar until closed in 1948.

The ‘302’ engine displacement emblem would normally indicate a model year 1969 and later for Broncos (The 302 V-8 made its debut on Ford/Mercury passenger cars one year earlier for 1968). However, the lack of side marker lights would suggest 1967 and older. My guess would be that this is one of the earlier Broncos [1966-67) that has subsequently received an engine swap to a newer 302 V-8 and a corresponding emblem was attached.

The Ford F100 pickup is a 1960 model year example, the fourth and final model year of this 3rd generation F-Series which debuted for model year 1957. This one features the modern-appearing Styleside box.

The Ford Falcon Futura beside it is a 1964 model, the Second Generation of Ford’s compact model.

Henry Ford is often looked back upon by history as a pioneer and innovator with his successful automobile manufacturing legacy. But not all of his ideas were successful. In 1920 Ford bought the Detroit, Toledo and Ironton which served his Rouge factory. His grand plans included electrifying the railroad so he could use power from his factory to keep costs down. But this electrification project was ultimately a failure as electric trains only ran for a few years before the subsequent owner of the DT&I determined steam was more economical. Ford’s electrification arches still remain to this day, mainly because they were made of solid concrete and too costly to remove. Canadian National train L572 is seen here rolling south towards Flat Rock Yard on the former DT&I (currently the CN Dearborn Subdivision). Two former IC SD70s lead the train under some of Ford’s Arches that remain near Taylor, MI.
